I have noticed that classified ads in the Bangkok Post offering employment will sometimes list that to qualify for a position in a company the applicant must be between certain ages, a certain sex, attractive along with a certain education level and a certain amount of experience in the companies field of expertise. I of course understand the education and work experience but I am guessing with the requirements on age, gender and apperance their is no office of EOE in Thailand or they have a different set of guidelines than where I come from.

So, do you think that the Thai people should adopt the following requirements for their employees?

"Cambodia's anti-corruption staff to undergo lie detector tests" I read about this in the Bangkok Post on Aug 25th but I can not find the article on their website. But there is another article about it here .

Would this be a good idea for Thailand?

There is no EoE (whatever that is) and they do have a different set of guidelines than where you come from. You're not in Kansas any more - you're in a country half way round the world that has a completely different mindset and a different set of 'morals' to those that you're used to.

Spending a majority of my time in the Thai banking industry (sorry, Naam!) I am fully aware of the status of employing a large number of attractive women. Lunch hour at the local market outside the larger banks would be a goldmine for any modeling agency.

The only employer in Thailand who does not do this are the embassy's, extract from the British Embassey

Equal Opportunities:

The British Embassy is an equal opportunities employer and aims to reflect the diversity of British and Thai society. We welcome applications from suitably qualified individuals, regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability or age. All applications are treated on merit.

its a shame most of thai companies cannot adopt this, as i remember reading in an other post that the banks NEVER employee DARK thais, which i think is a shame...

EOE? Do you mean "equal opportunity employment?":cheesy:,. There is no such thing as EOE, let alone equality, and not just Thailand, but GLOBALLY. EOE is just PC bull <deleted>.

Swensons employs young attractive light skinned Thais, but you must hold a BA in something, and they guarantee 30 baht an hour.

If your skin tone is not of the right hue, how much do you really expect to make?

When I posted this I was sure most comments would be about "anti-corruption staff to undergo lie detector tests" not the EOE comment. I think that the USA takes the EOE way to seriously when it made "Hooters" hire a Male server. If you are paying the wages you should be able to hire who you want. But could you imagine if Politicians everywhere should undergo a public Lie Detectore test upon entering office and upon leaving it?
