Phuket firm wins national award

PHUKET: The Phuket Software Factory has won a Ticta Award for its iPP health-information software.

Ticta is a national software competition jointly organized by Thailand's Information and Communications Technology Ministry and the Association of Thai ICT Industries.

The Phuket-developed iPP is used as a clinical tool to generate information ranging from personal health data to overall medical data. The data are displayed in graphic results that are an integral part of modern statistical analysis.

Basic categories of information available with iPP include patient demographics, physical examination details, vital-sign monitoring, clinical problems and conditions, and medication and patient financial information.

The winners of the 2010 Ticta awards were announced on Monday.

Out of 17 award categories, only 16 awards were made. The judges were unable to name a winner in the "e-Inclusion and e-Community" categories.

Among the winners, Thai search-engine specialist ThaiQuest took two awards. That company, regularly appearing in Ticta line-ups in recent years, took away this year's awards in the categories for e-government and service applications and research and development applications.

The 15 winners named on Monday will represent Thailand in the Asia-Pacific ICT Awards (Apicta) 2010, to be held in Malaysia in October.

The winners announced this week will receive prize money, support for their participation in the Apicta Awards competition, and recognition in the marketing activities of the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA).
