Hi,

I would like to know how could I marry a Thai women in Thailand. I am a Malaysian and both of us have already gone thru the Marriage Registration process in Malaysia. The certificate is in English and Malay. I have checked with Thai Embassy in Penang and they informed me that once I have the English copy, I can just proceed to Bangkok for marriage registration.

How can I also apply for marriage visa and how long the visa will last? 3months or 1 year?

Any senior members can help ???

It seems you are already legally married. That gives you the option of getting a (multiple) non-O visa based on your marriage. A single non-O would allow you to stay for 90 days in Thailand, during your last 30 days of your permission to stay you can go to the local immigration office and apply for an extension of stay for 1 year.

For this you would need to have your marriage registration certified by your embassy and translated into Thai and then certified by the Thai ninistry of foreign affairs. Next you can go to an amphur and have the wedding recorded in the Thai wedding register. be sure to get a copy of the entry into the Thai wedding register (khor ror 2 form). You will need this for immigration.

For the 1 year extension you will also need to be living with your wife in Thailand and have either an income of 40,000 baht a month OR have 400,000 in a Thai bank account for at least 2 months. The money must be yours and the income can come from abroad.

Hi Mario,

Many thanks for your information. I have also miss out that I need to go to Malaysia Embassy in Sathorn and Thailand Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get the Marriage Certificate endorsed. After that I could go to the Amphur for registration.

As for the minimum income 40,000THB per month, can that come from company in Malaysia that I am now working for??

Yes it can. You need a letter from your Embassy verifying the income.

You need to show that you and your Wife are living together as Man and Wife. Not sure you can do that if you are working in Malaysia.
