I am so sorry, Scott but take consolation in that he died happy, loved and had some tuna. You were a lucky man to have him in your life, remember that when you miss him.

Also sbk, when you think about the BIGGER picture, Orio was certainly a lucky cat to be cared for by Scott & his partner (especially considering where they live). Hopefully oneday when they feel up to it, perhaps they can take in a new homeless cat from the street & give it an oportunity to be cared for and loved. I understand its not always that easy to do straight away but the rewards in the process are unlimited.
