Flatouthruthefog 8
Today at 2.30pm a radar trap was operating at km stone 13, south of Doi Saket on the south-bound side (ie targetting traffic bound for Chiang Mai). The man was sitting in deep shade under a small tree and I only noticed him because I was going slowly on the left shoulder on a small motorcycle. His 2 colleagues were in wait in a lay-by, 1 kilo furthur on, with one of their rhubarb-and-custard coloured Highway Patrol cars. What a shame they were seeking 'law breakers' on this long straight stretch of dual carriageway with few junctions! Especially when elsewhere on tv, other posters have just remarked about the high number of casualties not far away - on the single carriageway Mae Jo road, with many junctions. Again we see what a 'fine' country this can be, with no apparent sense of priorities.
sillyman99 15
People speeding cause traffic accidents, that's why there are speed limits. So what's wrong with enforcing the speed limit ? Edited September 20, 2010 by sillyman99
Flatouthruthefog 8
Did you get stopped for speeding ? If not, why are you complaining ? Such a fast reply, you obviously haven't read it properly, or need more time to understand. I already wrote that I saw it because I was riding very slowly. I am complaining - and primarily warning other road users - because this is a waste of police resources on the wrong road. This road is notably safe. Another route out of Chiang Mai to the north, the Mae Jo road, is mainly single carriageway with many side roads and intrinsically dangerous, as other posters have recently warned. And don't point at people like that. It's rude, especially in Thailand.

So what's wrong with enforcing the speed limit ? Grow up or get some quallies. Speed in itself does not kill. Speed in the wrong place at the wrong time and in the wrong hands kills. You know the speed limit , so if you go over that limit, you can get busted. That is the same in every country in the world, I mean c'mon, when I was driving my BMW on the M25 at 3AM at 130 MPH ( pre camera days ) and I had been busted, could I have complained, no, I knew the limit. So grow up mate, and respect the laws here. Like ALL ThaiVisa members do. Edited September 20, 2010 by sillyman99

You go ahead and re-play the glory flash git days on the M4, I'll stick to the topic. I was talking about safety, not speeding 'busts'. Speed in itself does not kill.
