I'm thinking about getting a new amp and after doing some reading i'm really liking the idea of this:

Anyone know of any shops in Bangkok that sell Line 6 amps?

Or anyone familiar with a comparable amp (looking for a practice amp with lots of effects/presets/modeling etc..)

Also anyone know where one could find a Gibson Les Paul with robot tuner?

Try this link:

http://www.proplugin.com/

(Online retailer for a lot of Line 6 stuff and Gibson Robot LP's, so search the site.)

Other modelling amps worth looking at are Vox VT series and Fender Vibro/Super Champ. Peavey also sell modelling amps here but I have never seen them on sale.

Actually Line 6 equipment is quite easily available in Thailand. Central Power Buy sells the stuff, they also have a dealer with retail outlets in Seacon Square, Paragorn, Central Bang Na etc.

The official Gibson shop is located in Central World, though you may have to wait for the upcoming re-opening to check it out. The shop is called Music Concept, I don't have the web address.

As an aside, I don't use Line 6 but have tried the amps and mfx's and some of the products are very good.

This company is the main agent/dealer for Line 6 products, they have the Spider IV listed:

Sadly no pricing.

I know its all up to you, but wouldn't it be better to play a LP through a decent valve amp (say 15 - 30 watts)?. If you are shelling out that much for such a fine instrument then why not pay a bit more for the amp so you can really get the 'natural' sound of the guitar without it going through all the modelling of such an amp ? (just a thought)

Also, would your wife really know how much the guitar cost if you kept schtum about it?

Not to go off topic but...

I was just wondering about tube amps there & then saw your reply.

Just curious but are they popular in Thailand? I did see a few being used in Chiang Mai last time I was there.

I have some old ones here in the US & have also built a few...

Allen Accomplice & Marshall 18w clones

I agree nothing sounds better than plugging into tubes/valves

Also curious about NOS tubes there...Are they available?

I have my stash of old RCA's Mullards,Amperex,JAN etc..

6V6, 6L6, EL84's, 12ax7's etc

The Thai guitarists that I have spoken to all want to someday own a Marshall or a Mesa stack - all about brands of course.

You can buy valves/tubes here in Bangkok. There is one shop 'Suvarnabhumi Audio' that stocks Sovtek, Mullard etc and has an online store. I am sure that there are many others available.

Hope this helps
