For those who had problems accessing FB last Thursday, here is why.

Facebook suffers 'worst outage' in 4 years September 23, 2010 1:15 PM PDT

Editors' note: By late afternoon, Facebook was saying that it had gotten to the bottom of what it called "the worst outage we've had in over four years." Below is our account of how things unfolded during the course of the day.

Facebook struggled to maintain service availability today during the same period of time as a prominent Internet service provider dealt with a major outage.

We're getting countless reports of Facebook problems from users both inside and outside of CNET, with most reporting that the site has been up and down all morning. Facebook acknowledged that it was experiencing "latency issues" with its API, but it was not immediately clear what was causing those issues.

Early today Facebook was down or unreachable for many of you for approximately 2.5 hours. This is the worst outage we’ve had in over four years, and we wanted to first of all apologize for it. We also wanted to provide much more technical detail on what happened and share one big lesson learned.

The key flaw that caused this outage to be so severe was an unfortunate handling of an error condition. An automated system for verifying configuration values ended up causing much more damage than it fixed.

Whats a facebook - is it like a book with no words just pictures? :coffee1:

Facebook has been problem in Thailand for days while still working else where.- the real facebook outage only lasted 2.5 hours on the 23rd reported problems in Thailand start as far back as the 18th.

I guess the rest might be fascist government because of messages like this one days before the outage at facebook. Plus it opened for some that tested a work around or used other methods.

from a post date the 18th

I would guess that if people are getting that message perhaps they might jump to a conclusion its being blocked, but I am just guessing. How many people jumped to the conclusion this reported outage was even related to the problems with facebook from Thailand. :wai:
