I used to think my average of 4 posts per day was excessive until I saw the 'Most Frequent Posters' list on the right of the page and saw how many Jinthing, Gotlost and Transam post each and every day!

Which is exactly why I started the thread, I saw the same list and was amazed that people could spend so much time posting, it made me think that something's not right somewhere.

Only have 40 today. Thank You:D

It appears that 'Internet Addiction Disorder' (IAD) has been studied for the past 20 years, and unsurprisingly, there's volumes about it on the net. However, I've yet to come across anything that proves IAD is actually a clinical disorder from a psychological / psychiatric perspective.

If anyone has such a reference, I would be grateful to know of it, thanks.

I was am a bit of an expert in this

 You are an 'expert' are you?

What sort of qualifications do you have to back this claim up?

Of course, being regarded as an 'expert' in another sort of field I always use to joke when asked, "Definition of a expert is A DRIP UNDER PRESSURE".

Interesting topic nevertheless. Im not sure anyone has ever averaged 50 posts, BUT, I agree I post too much..

I guestimate that 70% of my posts are now in that crazy place (unaccessible to some) & mainly consist of friendly banter  .

I can see that it could take literally 20 minutes to send half a dozen away each day (especially if you know ppl on the forum) verses half an hour to type out one of those 'expert diagnosis' posts. I like TV in the morning for a news update & sometimes it can distract me when I have more important things to attend to. I am not sure where the slide chart is for working out the addiction level - I am sure an expert would have access to such a thing.

Anyway, if it came down to addictions, I'd rather spend an hour or two on the internet than having a needle hanging out my arm or be puffing on filthy tabacco products.

The Ayes have 32, the Nays have 6, the Ayes have it.

IMO (for what its worth not being an expert and all of that) but I would of thought 50 of anything in a day would be classed as possible addictive.

50 coffees

50 beers

50 ladies

50 Cigars

50 wanks

see wot i mean?

I scored 22 which means according to results I'm an average on-line user and may surf the Web a bit too long at times, but have control over my usage.

Think of the callouses and the likely-hood of RSI / CTS. :o

Hmm, I scored 11 on the questionnaire, which was somewhat surprising.

The questionnaire is developed by Young, who also appears to be the owner of said website netaddiction.com, and lead of the glamorous sounding "Centre for Internet Addiction".

There are some vague references to DSM -V including IAD in it, however from my understanding, discussions and studies it is probably unlikely that it will be included. I guess we will have to wait until 2013 to see if it has been accepted as a clinical diagnosis. :)

IMHO people posting to genuinely contribute is one thing. However there are far too many that just post to post which tells me they sit in front of their computers with nothing better to do. It is not limited to this site trust me. Anywhere there is a forum there is someone who has decided to make a career out of responding to every post possible. In this new era where people have limited social lives outside, typically play tons of computer games, live sedentary lives now simply have developed computer social lives. I guess in the end you can be addicted to anything. People posting > 50 times a day could be in the area of compulsive excessive behavior.

Honestly more disturbing are the key board combatants. They do nothing but hide behind their keyboards and shoot off disruptive hate replies to any thread.

To each his own.

As usual, I scored low as well, lower than you toad - single digit 9 HOWEVER, I found alot of the situations did NOT apply to me.

Do they have a questionnaire about wanking?

No, but I do have one on Frotteurism. Would that suffice? I can send it over to you by PM.

I just scored 45. For some reason, they consider this average, so I'm off the hook.:)

In fact, seeing those stats made me wonder whether it is possible to have a social life in the RealWorld[tm] while posting so much on the internet.

I don't know. Is it?

amazing when people have to lie to try and win an internet spat, what a sad case your buddy is

As opposed to creating multiple nics & sending oneself compliments and backup posts? :whistling:

Sad case? Yeah, alright :cheesy:

That is certainly a worrying scenario if that is the case. :whistling:

feel free to check with the mods, I await the outcome

I used the 'does not apply' option to record an answer of NEVER as there was no option for that.

I scored 15.

I'm confused. Does 'PM' stand for 'Pissing Match'?

you need to have a few thousand posts before you forget what a PM is

One thing is certain though, a PM is not a visible post on another's profile, and a PM is singular, PM's are multiple.

Hope that clears it up for you :whistling:

Okay, I get it; it stands for 'point missed'.

well thats half this thread deleted in what appears to be a completely ridiculous pissing match in which neither party is innocent nor aggrieved.

Boys, this is not the sand box or the playground and supposedly we are all adults here. lets act like we believe that too, thanks.
