Iranian man arrested allegedly with 5.7 kgs of 'ice'

An Iranian man was arrested the Suvarnabhumi International Airport Monday morning after customs officials found 5.7 kilogrammes of 'ice' drug hidden in a microwave oven allegedly carried by him.

Feizollahi Adel, 25, was arrested shortly after he arrived on Emirates Airlines Flight EK374 from Dubai at 8:30 am.

Acting on tip-off, customs officials checked his luggage and found the crystal methamphetamine hydrochloride hidden inside the microwave oven.

I always wonder when I read articles like this.

- 5.7 kilogrammes of 'ice' drug hidden in a microwave oven allegedly carried by him.

- arrived on Emirates Airlines Flight EK374 from Dubai at 8:30 am.

- Acting on tip-off

An Iranian with a microwave oven coming from Dubai ? Makes sense, doesn't it? Now where would he have got the 'ice', such things are prohibited in Dubai as far as I know.

Anyway TAT could add the tally, one more tourist, long stay as well ;)

Transit-passengers are not inspected during transit normally.

But they sure on the lookout for Iranians these days...

Racial profiling works.

Well carrying a microwave oven is bit of a give away. I am sure they are going to give that an extra look over especially when item such as this will require duty.

These people are not the sharpest knives in the draw, As they are getting caught on a weekly basis. Goes to show hey.

That would only be true if the arrests was made public back home. Most likely they are not reported upon.

If it was, no doubt it would be a zionist, imperialist conspiracy to compel innocent Iranians to transport drugs.

With full co-operation of the US of A, of course. Iranians would never have anything to do with drugs, alcohol and loose women. Makes you wonder why they visit Thailand ?

Carmen Miranda (remember her?) used to pack out her platform shoes with cocaine. She never  got caught AFAIK but then drugs were not anything like the problem that they are now. I wonder if the Custom guys check out the towels that Middle East peoples wear on their heads? Would that be enough to kick off a jihad?

This is what happens when your from a repressive society and culture.

So the Capt. says to the mate; "What ya doing with 999 ft. of hemp rope?"

and the mate says; "aaaaaaaah just carrying it."

good tip off

Correct me if I'm wrong but i believe last nights Thai TV news carried a story of another 2 Iranians arrested for drugs at the airport yesterday.

Why did he carry it in a microwave?Had he just finished the cooking of it while on the airplane?

@Farma : you read about 2 other Iranians with drugs.I read about dozens of them in the last month, seems like every other Iranian entering the country get caught.

Seems the Iraninans are on a bit of a bad run at the moment with their Ice deliveries.

Who needs Iranian Ice Delivery anyway, I just bought a bag of ice at 7/11, 7 baht ;)

What? I can't carry my microwave with me when I travel? wacko.gif

Have you been taking what he was smuggling?

Yes, indeed. But we cannot forget the ones that are getting through, depending on which immigration/customs officers are working-how much she or he has been given payment/gifts received, to look away. They don't have to be the sharpest knives in the drawer or do they?...

If it was me I would carry nothing more than a suitcase, when the authorities opened it it would have nothing inside. exept clothes food sauces and maybe 6 grams of ice in a sea salt bottle in my suitcase.

There are a million ways to smuggle this evil cack however this Iranian has shown his serious lack of intelligence. It makes you wonder how much gets through.

i think 5.7 kilo's of sea salt could rouse suspicions too,

but good tip,

got a spare gram?

i've run out

and if you had 6g in a bottle of sea salt

how long did that take to seperate?

if she never got caught then how do you know about it? Be interested to see some hard facts to back up that rather interesting statement.

as for the "towels on head thing" well I guess there are rednecks everywhere. I would suggest you put some sunscreen on.

Stay tuned for the criminal hearing 5 years from now!!!

You forget the ladyboys, as they are the biggest buyer of their services.

What does 5.7 kilos of ice coming out of a microwave look like?

The perp is a little camera shy.

Iranian Man Busted with 'Ice' Worth 20 Million Baht

Authorities of the customs department has detained an Iranian man found in possession of more than five kilograms of 'ice' or methamphetamine with a street value of more than 20 million baht hidden inside a microwave oven.

A twenty-five year-old Iranian man, Fezolahi Adel, has been arrested by authorities from the customs department at Suvannabhumi International Airport along with about 5.7 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Adel arrived from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The methamphetamine was inside plastic bags, hidden inside a microwave oven.

Customs officials said during their initial search and questioning, Adel appeared quite suspicious.

Authorities then found the oven was unusually heavy, prompting them to inspect the oven more thoroughly which led to their discovery of the drugs hidden at the top and sides of the oven.

The Iranian has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Adel has admitted to the crime, saying he was to be rewarded US 2,000 dollars for the transport.

Authorities also found that the man made numerous trips to Thailand before, which the authorities said are most likely also to transport drugs as well.

$2,000 for 20 years... hope he feels his payment of $8 a month was sufficient and worthwhile.

and that's if he doesn't get a lethal injection for his efforts. Hard to explain that 5.7 kilos coming through the airport was anything other than trafficking.

dam_n. Such a heavy microwave oven. Wasn't a good idea, where's my ice at?

Okay, I'll buy my ice in the hood.

Would he be one of the new upscale tourists that Thailand is catering to these days? :whistling:

Not just the Iranians are not that smart. What about the delivery address? Guess they'd have helped to find some 'bigger' guys.
