onnut
<deleted> the police chief in that area should be pulled and a new one put in his place. very disgusting! I am actually shocked by this. The venders should all be locked up as well! but of course that will not happen will it? imagine if they were from any other country, the police would have a field day showing at how well they are stamping out this sort of thing in Thailand, but no! not this time, because its Thais that are doing it. dirty ^%%#$@!

Popular Post animatic
It's the mention of "influential people" in a story that always has me reaching for the sick bag. Isn't there anybody in this country wielding a bigger stick so to speak with the morals and clout to bury these cancerous cockroaches? Exactly the point. How influential are these people, that thais can not find someone so much more powerful to put the hammer down on them for this degenerate degradation of their own society? What adults do is their business, if it isn't violent or physically oppressive to those who do not wish it. But when they involve children, that is another level of depravity that no society should ever tolerate. Popular Post BWPattaya
There is another, more sinister, side to this. These vendors are trying to make a living selling what people want to buy. If people weren't buying the vendors wouldn't be selling. The people making these movies would still be making them even if people weren't selling and buying them. It is the nastier side of the human condition. I have just noticed that there are 172 people viewing this topic and wonder why. Edited October 3, 2010 by BWPattaya
geovalin
Either the story is true and serious and Animatic's question is very wise, severe and scary: How influential are these people, that thais can not find someone much more powerful Or its a message to discredit the police. Or its a message to show that Thailand had never been so corrupted.

Bagwan
Why do the Bangrak based police operate under different rules from those of Lumpini? Is Lumpini a crackdown free area? We hear a lot of BS about politicians damaging Thailand's reputation. What could be more damaging than this? Is this sort of filth also available in non-tourist areas? If not, is this an indication of how visitors from abroad are perceived?

All kind of porn is illegal in this country btw.

bangkokcitylimits
This is nothing new, the custom officers at European airports know exactly how the covers of the disks with forbidden stuff, sold in Bangkok and Pattaya look like. Even dudes who think they buy regular porn get arrested, lol. jucel
It appear Thai people will do ANYTHING to make money. Are there any morals where making money is concerned?? asiawatcher
If anyone was to go to the vendors and ask why, get angry and upturn their poxy table or display, you would rest assured the police would not interfere. However, you would face other vendors who would side with these scum buckets. But understand, the police are being paid off to allow the vendors to block the footpath in the first place but this is a matter to be presented with photographic evidence to DSI and the Govt - not to the Police who are the catalyst in the sales therefore will not interfere. And yes there may be 176 people reading this topic because they are all appalled. Either way - we all have an opinion about this and nothing short of castration against these low-lifes would suit me if I had the opportunity. Sorry admin - I know - no hang them high comments - would rather stretch them low and cut them (off)!

Even dudes who think they buy regular porn get arrested, lol. Human trafficking in this region, especially of under aged should get more attention because it's bigger then most realize, even huge... you are absolutely right - there must be a huge market for these "Sickos" - last time I crossed into Tachilek from Mae- Sai I was approached by touts on the Burmese side if I wanted to go on a tour - I declined. Two Thai guys in front and behind me where asked in Thai - "you want me to take you to girl - nice young girl?" - Thai guy declined - tout following him - "I mean nice really young girl" the tout went on - "Brother I am talking fresh 14-15 years old here!" Can you imagine this anywhere else in the world? Even if most people decline the offer - nobody here seems to think there is something wrong with it ! There are guys openly offering the sex services of under aged children and nobody even cares. And this is the really sickening part - it is almost accepted that children are abused - "who cares" - or " it's not my problem" seems to be the attitude . I wonder what would happen if someone would inform the police? Somehow I have the feeling - that the person who informs the police would be in more trouble than the criminals who offer these services! After all I don't think they could offer children for sex or sell child pornography so openly without the very people who are supposed to stop them being part of these criminal enterprises - getting rich on the back of abused children. I don't feel it is fair to imply that because 172 people are viewing this topic they are potential clients who wish to purchase child pornography, maybe the interest in the subject is because people are rather outraged by the story. I feel that these vendors should be arrested and charged with Child Pornography charges, paraded in front of the news cameras with there wares and shamed I am sure it would discourage openly selling of these discs. Of course they would be just put under the counter then. Or even better set up surveillance and nab all the purchasers of these discs Dk

Thai at Heart
Whilst I am shocked that kiddie porn was so widely available, everyone knows there is porn available in these places. It is there, because someone has paid for the right to put it there. Whilst I applaud the investigation particularly because of the kiddie porn issue, the whole of Thailand is rife with "illegal' business going on in front of everyone's noses. What will the next headline be. "Shock as prostitution racket discovered in Soi Nana." "We couldn't believe that this was going on, it was hidden so well from public view by the kiddie porn sellers. We are shocked. It would appear that some of the girls had been working there for over 30 years. We have also heard underground rumours that there is another place nearby called Soi Cowboy, but after searching for the last 25 years, we still haven't found it."

britmaveric
No doubt everyone has seen porn being touted by vendours, just a hypothetical to those who have purchased from said people.... how sure are you that those portrayed are actually adults? It could end you up in a heap of sh*te unknowingly for that matter. Never seen the child stuff being sold and I am thankful of that. Pretty vile stuff. However does it shock me if it were being sold, not at all. Edited October 3, 2010 by britmaveric
Heng
The police and army own most of the cd pressing plants, the rest of the plants are owned by just about all of the well known labels that openly 'complain' about underground cd pressing plants (presumably just the ones they don't own).
