Phone Numbers In Thailand

Featured Replies

Not sure this is the right place, but here goes ...

When we call Bangkok from the US, we dial

011 -- International Long Distance

66 -- BKK city code

+ number

I know there is a difference between land lines and cell codes (sometimes?), and when we are in Thailand we dial differently.

I am just not straight on what we dial in-country versus out-of-country. Anybody help?

Easy :o

When dialling from abroad delete first digit (O)

I.e.: international code then Number either land line or mobile

Less first digit (O)

Hope this helps

The numbers for phoning local mobiles or land lines in Thailand include a '0' at the start. e.g. (0) 1234 5678.

When phoning from overseas the '0' is omitted.

Land lines always have an area code:

02 for Bangkok, 038 for Pattaya

When dialing in Thailand you have to dial this code, including the 0, even if you are in the area.

the number (02) 1234-567 should be dialed as:

From anywhere in Thailand, including Bangkok: 021234567

From US: 0116621234567

The same thing with cell numbers, include the leading zero when dialing inside Thailand and exclude it when dialing from outside.

As far as I know numbers starting with 01,06 and 09 are cell numbers, there may be others as well???

When calling Italy (Country Code 39) you don't drop the 0....that's a real killer if you don't know it!
