British physiologist wins 2010 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine

STOCKHOLM (BNO NEWS) -- British physiologist Robert Geoffrey Edwards on Monday was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his in vitro fertilization procedure.

Edwards, who is 85, was awarded the prize for the development of human in vitro fertilization (IVF) therapy. His achievements have made it possible to treat infertility, a medical condition afflicting a large proportion of humanity including more than 10% of all couples worldwide.
