Video Online Stops Midway

When I watch a short video online [news or other youtube]

it invariably fails to finish and stops around the 2/3 point.

This happens with Firefox or Internet Explorer

It is as if my ISP is limiting download Bytes.

Or maybe there is a cache that has filled and will not overflow.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this or find out what

the real problem is ?

Thanks

Do you have other bandwidth hungry applications (e.g. bit torrent) running at the same time? If this is the case, adjust the DL/UL limits for those programs accordingly so that enough bandwidth is available for streaming video.

Have you waited for a while to see if playback continues?

Have you tried going back a few seconds and continuing playback?

You say when you watch a short video, does it happen for all videos, regardless of length?

Yes I go back a few seconds but it stops at the same place again

Don't know about all videos but it happens nearly all the time.

I have 1Mbps service thru True

No this happens even if I clear out all other apps

How do I adjust these limits ?

Where are these controls ?

Also where is the cache size control panel ?

Thanks

2 suggestions for windows XP and may work on other windows versions:

1. Save and close every thing open. Click on control panel then internet options then on the General Tab and under browsing history click on Delete, then put a check mark at history, cookies and temporary files only then click on delete and wait until your hard drive quits cranking/deleting the excess junk files and you have seen a dialog box go on and off by itself saying something like deleting browsing history/cache. When its done click on ok to get out of internet options.

2. If Java is being used, older versions can conflict with newer versions so get rid of the old versions since they are only taking up space on your C drive and causing trouble. In the control panel now click on Add and Remove programs and look down the list to find Java and note the current and older versions. Remove all that say Java on the list except the most current version. You should now see only the most current version displayed on the list. Then close the control panel and restart your computer.

Hope that works for you.
