Unsolved Mysteries

Featured Replies

These are a few items from crime stories that I was unable to figure and could

use some help.

1: ก่อนจะกลายเป็นศพ

If one were to say ” before he became a corpse” in English, it would be considered

inappropiate unless one was talking about a serial killer. But in Thai is it just another

ordinary way to say “before he died” ?

2: ซึ่งผู้บัญชาการตำรวจภูธรภาค 7 ได้กำชับให้ดำเนินการสาว ให้ถึงผู้บงการ

ส่วนปมสังหาร ตั้งไว้ 3 ประเด็น

What does การสาว mean in that phrase ?

3: ตำรวจ คาดว่า กลุ่มผู้ตายไปเที่ยวแต่งกายครึ่งท่อน อาจทำให้กลุ่มนักเที่ยวไม่พอใจจึงตามมายิง

In this story, a couple army soldiers were enjoying some R & R at an entertainment

night spot. They left the club at 5 a.m. and were followed by some bad guys who

shot at them , killing one. Line 3: I beleive is what the Police guess the motive was.

What does แต่งกายครึ่งท่อน mean? All I can come up with would be that they were

dressed in half a set. Like not wearing shirts or something like that.

TIA for any replies

DS: ครึ่งท่อน - half out of uniform

It appears that "อัมพาตครึ่งท่อน" means to be paralyzed to the extent of half of one's body, perhaps paraplegia.

ดำเนินการ means to manage / to start

สาว means to find out

"ครึ่งท่อน - half out of uniform"

I wonder if this is how Thais refer to the commonly seen soldier/police who's wearing a white t-shirt with his uniform trousers and shoes.

In the video the deceased was wearing army fatigue pants and a T-shirt, but I thought there must of been something more to

it than simply half out of uniform, to make someone mad enough to kill.

I concur with David on the meaning of ครึ่งท่อน. I don't think there's any hidden meaning there. I think it just says a lot about the crime solving skills of the police, is all.
