Ive just been trying out Ubuntu 10.10 , and needed to use my CAT CDMA MC 727 USB modem , It took me a while to get the modem connected and in the end I followed these instructions which worked ok, So I thought I would post the info here ..

Depends. 10.4 is LTS so if you need the support, then no. I have been playing with 10.10 and to be honest I havent noticed any great difference between the two.

I could not get OP's tut to work with my ec150 until I installed wvdial and usb-modeswitch. Once those were installed, Ubuntu detected the dongle automatically.
