Hotel Pattaya In High Season

Hey,

I've been in thailand for 3 weeks this year in july (1 week pattaya) and i'm going back for 3 weeks in januari (2weeks pattaya, 1week buriram).

Now in july i've been in pattaya, bangkok & krabi and every hotel i went there was plenty of room not occupied.

Now i was wondering if it's a smart thing to do in januari to go to pattaya without booking up front, cause of the high season.

My preference is not to book up front and find something around 800-1500bath.

Somewhere around Soi 1 - 17 so i can take tuk tuk and it's not far to walking street.

Any idea's what's best ?

Personally, I would book just to be on the safe side.

Another more practical reason is you might pay a higher rate if you just walk-in rather than book early. Walk-ins are normally given the higher rates.

Even though this is supposed to be the low season, for some reason, things pick up in Dec-Jan.

Good luck

I would wait as Pattaya is dead and not looking good for the high season. but you never know it might pick uk so there is a risk.

You think Pattaya is dead? go and try and book a room at Dusit, Centara Grand, Holiday inn, Royal Cliff etc for this comming weekend and see how you get on!!!! Always fully booked, have to book waaaaay in advance, Booking for January is a definate must!!

neil234 - Centara Grand definitely do not have ANY rooms available this weekend.

January - book your room now.

Oke, i'll see i best book up front.

Is a bit a pain in the ass because i first go to pattaya then buriram and then back pattaya, don't know how long where yet.

But i best figure it out if i want to be safe.

Also this way i risk to book a hotel i don't like and to be stuck there.

True but sweeping comments like the poster quoted are bullshite to say ALL of them are full this coming weekend, the first i checked was OK. I AGREE to book for January to secure your prefered place, but you will ALWAYS find somewhere. I have in the past, albeit difficult, once i ended up staying on soi 6,LOL and this was without all the economic problems prevailing.

It's a bit like saying 'house prices always go up'.................................please don't answer that................

To say Pattaya is not being affected by it's core market being still stuck in a depression and a local currency riding at a 13 year high is pure and utter bullshite.

When I booked in Pattaya before I moved here in 04 I would only book 1 day & the next day carouse around & find accommodations. The rooms are usually cheaper if you book when you are here, barring that in mind if you are coming up from Jan 1st through the 4th I would book in advance. Those dates are usually booked up.

Better make a reservation. Most of the better and more popular places are fully booked. Just tried to get a room at Diana-Oasis for Nov./Dec., but they can only accommodate for a few days. A pity. Have been checking with some other good places, all full for main season and not cheap either. Don't listen to "the always negative", Pattaya is far from dead. Have a great vacation. JL.

For sure you can always get a room. Hardly ever a problem with getting a room. The problem starts when you want to stay at a particular resort, perhaps with a particular view, or in a particular area. If that is the case, book in advance for sure. If you don't care what room you get for, say, 1000 Baht...then just come in January and you won't have any problems....

High season? What high season?

Chiang Mai is slowly, but surely picking up steam. There will be a high season, but not as good as past years.;)

I agree with you UG. Chiang Mai is picking up somewhat but not like we would like it to. I have noticed an increase of tourist over the pass couple of weeks. Talking to one of the top realtors in the area the other day. He was telling me this had been the worst season in the pass 5 years.

Perhaps at least book you r first few nights somewhere simple. That will give you time to relax then take a look around. Seaside Guesthouse

Looks nice,

Why is it much cheaper then the others ?

I'm planning to book up front just in case, i see how will go there, then i know for next year.

I mailed http://www.eastinypattaya.com/inn/ for some information was planning to book there.

July i went to LEK hotel but i guess i can find better.

Just off the record : I suppose in neither hotel in pattaya there is a problem bringing girls into the room ?

Friends of me had that trouble back in bangkok, but can't really imagen that happening in pattaya.

It's just to know for sure, I don't like asking dumb question at the reception.

High season? What high season? There are no signs that this year will have a high season. Usually this time everybody is busy getting ready for the high season, lots of new construction/decoration work, this year nothing. Dead.

I surely hope not.

Are there any +points about it getting crowded ?

I think july is a better time to go as in januari, I'm afraid all the bars are going to be really full and all the best girls are gone.

In july everybody said to me it was really dead if you compare with other years, but for me it was just perfect, haha.

if your gonna pre-book, just call the hotel first and ask them, i always think its better if they say girls are no problem, but we have to have their ID , good protection for you

Standard rooms can be small. 18 to 23 sq. metres. No pool. Just a clean bookable place from which to begin.

Oke thx, i'll do that.

anyone know perhaps what is the minimum age for the hotel ?

I got a little confused before.

1 time with a girl 19yr's, it was only oke if i payed the hotel afterwards.

Second time with a other girl same age it was no problem.

(Before i get shitload of age related reaction, i'm 23 myself ;) )

Nothing with a DOB over 2235 (18). Do yourself a favour check out the nova gold for the money it's a steal, MBT to walking 50/60b. Which hotel stung you for a fee the lek?

Yes the Lek.

Myself i couldn't figure out here ID, so i suppose most likely she wasn't even 18.

Just checked out the nolva gold. said 1700 and a bit for a room.

Normal price about 3000 don't know that's a real promotion or a sales trick.

For me it looks real nice, but my travel companion find it way to much (after paying 850 at the lek before)

He really has his mind on the eastiny Inn (1280bath)

I still keep it in mind, and if it doesn't get any more expensive back it's a must try for me next year in july.

It is no where near the requested location.

This thread is on shaky ground. Perhaps the OP should be posting on forums that specialise in that kind of thing.

Any suggestion where ?

I thought i was here on the place to be.

But got a lot wiser already here.

I'm not sure that I am allowed to post them here. So I'll send links via PM
