Don't know if you just caught the press conference from the Attorney General/FBI. The Americans are going full steam ahead with this and it looks like no stone will be left unturned. Well done to the US and shame on the rest of our cowardly countries for not having the same guts that they have.

Yanks have got Switzerlands banking system all tied up now.

UBS and Credit Suisse a couple of years ago. HSBC this year. Obviously picked up a huge FIFA money trail and I would imagine have plenty evidence to convict. Those little secret Swiss accounts are not so untouchable anymore.

Hope they get Blatter bang to rights. Odious runt that he is!!

Essentially the same way they popped 1930's gangsters Al Capone and Mickey Cohen. Never underestimate the FBI bean counters. They love their work.biggrin.png

Don't you be a dimmy too MrBo.

I'm sure Blatter knew damned well the Brits would have an eye on anything he was up to in the UK. The criminal offences all went through US bank accounts and/or took place on US soil. That's why the US justice department has jurisdiction.

Also, I think the penalties for RICO offences are a lot harsher in the US, so it's in everyone's interest.

They obviously thought the seppos aren't that interested in footy.

But I know who a lot of European countries are going to be voting for when the World Cup is next up for grabs.

sepp is well going to get away with this. he's the don, he's untouchable and he's been in situ for years. there's no way that a guy that powerful leaves himself open to this. he was last in the US in 2011, year before chuck blazer was wearing his wire. there is absolutely no way a guy as insulated and organised as blatter gets implicated in this. in fact, and while to some this might sound paranoid, it wouldn't surprise me if sepp was actually the FBI stooge who is throwing these lot out the boat. that might be a stretch but if on the back of this, albeit great development and at least something, sepp gets arrested, i will show my arse in any window you care to name. he's too smart, too entrenched and too powerful.

Don't know what part of my statement warranted you calling me a "dimmy" chicog

Of course the offences that the US are charging them with went through US bank accounts or occurred on US soil, that's why they are able to charge and arrest them. But if you think ALL of this criminal activity only happened on US soil, you are in dream land. Two decades this has been going on and you can bet your cotton socks money has been funnelled through and offences taken place, in several countries.

We have been talking on here for ages about our frustrations of how crooked FIFA are but only the US has stood up and charged any of them. For that, I applaud them. The penalties in the US being harsher has naff all to do with any of the other countries around the world investigating criminal activities and charging people. A criminal can be accused in as many countries as they commit crimes in. The deal would then be done as to which country they are extradited to, to face trial. Even the Swiss are looking separately at the bidding process for awarding the world cups to Qatar and Russia.

At the end of the day. A country that calls it "soccer" has had to step in and clean up "football".

This has all happened on his watch. So he is either very dumb not to have seen it or very smart to be covering his tracks. But if he's slipped up the US will find it, especially as there will now be so many trying to save their own skin. I can't see him being the stooge because even if he'd done a deal, they wouldn't have let him stay in office.

Hilarious as well as disgusting. You have to think that FIFA might be bankrolling a good piece of this farce. What a bunch of corrupt old farts they are. And, being corrupt is bad enough, but these <deleted> seem to actually glory in it. Humongous egos. You would hope that the way they flaunt the corruption and the transparent window dressing to address it would eventually lead to some outrage and changes. But the bastards are so institutionalized now that they seem immune.bah.gif

"parallel universe" indeed. Surrealistic.

Judging by the way they acted up for the television cameras and flaunted at the press conference, they are acting like nothing much has happened and it's business as usual, even voting in the new trough feeders on friday. They can't understand the game has been so profitable and so so difficult to prove, they just refuse to understand,it's game over, and here comes the Prison time, let's hope it's double figure sentences!

if he'd slipped up in the US he'd have been arrested today boj. and he is not, not very dumb. he's either totally insulated and knows it or he's <deleted> jack nicholson in the departed and is the guy giving up all his competition as the uber-stooge. i'm inclined to the former. he's played this game for over three decades and has dirt on absolutely everybody and their families and is totally untouchable. i think we're looking at the biggest gangster we've ever seen in our lifetimes here. he's got literally everyone in his pocket over 40 years or so. arrest me and i'll bring down your whole family and legacy kind of thing. he's that powerful and has had that level of access and influence for decades. and legally too!

At least Bernie Madoff will be pleased to have friends to talk to.

They could set up a Ponzi FIFA called Felons Investment Financial Association or Football Investments Felons Association and they shouldn't have a problem laundering the money.

Yeah you could be right stevie. It was interesting when the FBI guy said "this is just the start". I really think (or more hope) that one of those arrested and it only takes one, squeals and stitches him up.

... and the rest of the day reminisce how they were all untouchable once upon a time.

I agree for the most part but don't forget when FIFA started dealing in US$ it became a federal offense which opened a very big door. However i do feel the majority of the hierarchy of footballing nations have been spineless, for years.

Ask yourself who was "insulating" him and see how many of them are in the 14.

The FBI won't make any approach to arrest Sepp until they have something water tight and for that the canaries need time to start singing which they might well do to avoid fifteen years in Terre Haute.

Theres always a weakness. Just need to find it and it'll come by way of plea bargains

Don't often agree with anything Piers Morgan has to say but today is an exception.

"Sepp Blatter is a corrupt, poisonous toad of FIFA who's been sucking the life out of football for years"

and lord knows piers morgan would recognise a corrupt, poisonous toad that sucks the life out of things when he sees one.

Funny all these people are coming out of the woodwork now...all these FA chiefs as well.

Where were the gutless wonders last week?
