Ultimately, they succeeded in what they truly were trying to accomplish. You pissed them off, so they pissed you off.

Wrong again. They either pissed themselves off, or, more likely, they were just playing Big Badass Outlaw Harley riders. You know the bully mentality.

It seems they pissed you off more than the other way around. I would bet they forgot about you an hour after it happened. Maybe you should let it go.

As noted, it was about the silliest thing I've seen in a very long time. It also represented consciously dangerous driving on their parts.

And now I'm merely replying to posters such as yourself who need clarification. Be prepared to move out of the way for the Kings Of The Road unless you want the consequences!

Back in the sixties, me on my Lambretta, parka clad and pork pie hat pulled over my ears, happily cruising along when this leather clad rocker on his Bonneville or Gold Star, can't remember which, came roaring up, pulled along side, l looked and he stuck his boot out and pushed me off the road into a ditch and roared off, all good fun eh, So think you worry to much. :D

Mods and Rockers the good old days.

So you were the one, us greasers use to do that all the time, we had some great punch ups down the coast too with the mods !!! never replaced the teeth.

l had a Triton if you know the Norton frame with the Triumph bonni 650 great bike, raced tuned and would be a fast bike now.

Apologies for our behavour then but young and reckless we were. :D

Many Harley Davidson riders remind me of the below commercial.

Many of these riders seem to be in 'drag' & as such, they are nothing less than 'drag queens' of a motorcycling nature.

As usual, it takes but a few to spoil the fun for the majority.

I will also admit that I've never liked Harleys, since their reliability seems to be tainted (historically).

Ignore them & they will be worthless...even though the bikes are already worthless.

A Great post by someone who obviously has NO CLUE about Harleys nor the people that ride them  but it made him feel better so thats ok :D

Sorry, i agree with him, i bet a high majority of these guys only got themselfs harleys when they came here.....

It`s all a bit (village people) if you ask me..something not right about having your feet in front of your knees..not that you would ask me.......

:cheesy: Lot safer than you streetbike boys who have your asses stuck in the air, I thinks thats way more village people and inviting a poking LOL best be careful you dont meet us chopper riders cause looks like you boys are asking for it and since were all village people now I guess we all best be careful LOL :D

I was on a sportbike meet and ride recently and the where a couple of exhaustless HD's turned up, I made sure I was riding in front of them, nothing against anyone and how they get their kicks but I'd just done 1000km and no way would I do that with or on a HD the noise would drive me nuts, couldn't keep the pace anyway so won't ever happen I suppose

Maybe that is why my Vespa friend from Woking always had a tire iron under his seat.

I remember at Brighton when two police turned up on m/bikes to break up a disturbance. Mistake, as their bikes ended up being "assisted" into the sea. Your honourwhistling.gif

Guys I'm not big (as knowledgeable) on UK history of the bike clubs of that era. I seem to remember talk of the 'The Mods' & 'Teddy Boys' on their scootas, but that's about it.

The Mods were on scooters and followed a smart fashion trend but the rockers or greasers r even teddy boys were big bike guys that wore leather gear and enough Brillcream on their hair to fry chips in, and were generally, well we thought, greasy dudes and they mainly liked mainly rock and roll and thought they were tough guys, some were, as l found out.

Thanks mate, that clears the air a bit on that. B)

Gone a bit of topic but for Garry,

Back in the sixties the Teddy boys wore there hair neat with long sideburns and it combed back like Elvis to the back of there head into what was called a DA (ducks arse)

They wore suits with jackets down to mid thighs in vivid colours velvet collars and tight matches trousers and they would carry flick knives or cut throat razors.

There shoes were boot type in suede with thick crepe soles. If you go on Wikipedia (Teddy Boys) tells you more history.

Again Rockers or greasers were the tonup boys of the 1950's a ton being 100mph again you can read more on Wiki theres a lot to read..

The Mods came along later in the 1960's it got a lot of people scared at the time l was a rocker and a bit off the rails then with my mother packing her bags theatening to leave home many times.

My dad was aways good about it he had had a tough upbringing if you could call it that and when l got in deep do, do, he gave me an ultimatum and l stopped mixing with the bad guys and dad took me along to track days racing my Triton bike.

l turned out to be a repectable person in the end almost. :whistling:

In post 1 the term 'Mercan accent' was mentioned. What is that?

"Live to ride, ride to live" doesn't mention any particular brand!

I think the OP's hate of all things Harley includes the country where they originate, America, hence the "Mercan" or American accent.

As far as riding in Thailand is concerned I only had a problem with those little scooters cutting me off during city rides and on occasion or two at highways when all of a sudden they decide to cross the lanes without knowing what is coming behind them. Had a few really closed calls. One time Scubabuddha (Thai Visa member) was riding behind me and he saw it, till today I had no idea how did I manage to avoid colision.

There are dicks everywhere, Sport bike or Harley riders. I never had a problem with Thai Harley riders but some of newbie farang Harley owners occasionaly display bad attitudes in order to compensate for lack of riding skills.

I don't have any particular feelings about Harleys themselves except that I don't care to listen the noise. But the noise is actually the fault of the owner, who himself enjoys it so much, not the bike. Anyway, noise is a fact of life in Thailand; you get used to it, sound trucks, Arab beer bars, Thai rock bands, intercity bus music systems, and all. I carry earplugs at all times.

Personally I'd never buy, or rent (probably what the BIG BAD OUTLAW HARLEY RIDERS were doing) such a big, unmaneuverable bike to ride in PTY traffic, but my reasons are purely rational, not emotional. In fact, I suspect the reasons that Harley riders prefer Harleys may be mostly emotional. Though as I've said I find Harley riders quaint in their pseudo-uniforms and beanie helmets, in PTY we have a full range of style--obese males in Speedos, Glitterman, sandals and white socks--and the Harley crowd is merely one. As a believer in social Darwinism, it's gratifying to see it working so exceptionally well here in LOS.

Now, 'Mercuns, I do have mixed feelings about, esp. those FOB as these two seemed to be. Maybe Hollywood, in this instance outlaw biker movies, holds excessive influence over attitudes. Still, I visit 'Mercuh every few years and enjoy being with my friends, quite wonderful people. After all, people have to be judged as individuals, and no nationality is perfect. I regularly wind up the Brits around here for their arrogance and provincialism. Yet no Brits have cut me off and ordered me to "move over, motherfu_ker!" I suppose in Thailand the Scandinavians are my favorite group, as those I've encountered seem by far the most civilized and urbane. Wonder why is that.

BTW, really enjoyed the discussion about Teddy boys, mods, and rockers. Sort of made this thread worthwhile.

Same here, it was good to read from real life experiences. Google might make things easy, but to hear it from the horses mouth so to speak was enlightening. B)

Most of us at some point ride with non HD riders. Never have a problem amongst a group of sport bike riders. They're usually gone after awhile as they ride a little faster than myself. No problem they stop up ahead and we enjoy a couple beers and lunch. Even at biker rallys we all sit together. Never hear the conflicts some have posted here.

Personally never had any problems with Harley riders in Thailand. Find 'em to be a genuinely friendly bunch here in the Land of Smiles.

In the US... erm... no comment...

Same here, as I said in one of my original posts to this thread. No dramas at all and plenty of friendly rivalry. Nothing wrong with being proud of what you own and ride. :jap: B)

Its really a shame that this BS is showing its face here I really have not seen this type of BS in the 5 years of riding in Thailand and thought it was just an attitude left in the USA the riceburner Harley mentality, competition.

i have rode all over Thailand and not once have I had any issue with any bike no matter if he was on a streetbike or a wave as long as he enjoyed riding its all good.

When I came to Thailand I was really surprised everyone was easy going none of the BS of those rice burner boys or oh those AH Harley guys it seemed that anyone who enjoyed riding there bike was welcome no matter what they were riding.

Well you guys obviously burst the bubble and it seem that its the rice burner boys that are the instigators and that is a shame why cant you just enjoy your riding without having a go at other Bikers no matter what they are riding.

I know some great guys, some ride harleys some ride street bikes I also know some <deleted> some ride Harleys some ride streetbikes.

Anyone that rides a bike is cool with me and to generalize just shows how small minded you are.

Couldnt agree more with you. Dissing a great motorcycle brand or a big comunity like Harley riders are worldwide doesnt over one having an incident like this makes little sense. What makes sense and is the truth is that most posters in TV bikes forum should never had post in a bike forum. We all know that these posters got their first two wheels after coming to Thailand and really dont know the difference between a scooter and a bicycle and nor the culture.

Maybe you newbies to the bike scene should show some more respect for bikes in general, old traditions and things that are well established in the motorcycle world. Everything doesnt circle around you and your new auto scooter and definately doensnt make you the guys to change the motorcycle world.

Bit of common sense really to aid being seen considering a lot of the drivers here seem to have graduated from the Helen Keller School of Motoring.

surely taking the p . . . lights-on is hard-wired into most bikes, via the little 'black box' since ? mid-late 1990s.

No option to run engine with lights off - friend has a Honda dealership in NZ when the first permanent 'on' bikes were released they had an influx of repairs from owners/riders who'd tried to circumvent the wiring.
