Looking For Orchid Farmers In Chon Buri

Featured Replies

Need to find a large scale producer of Thai tropical orchids in the Chon Buri area with a large range of varieties.

If any TV members have a connection with a large scale orchid nursery please PM me.

Thanks

Siriporn Orchids.

Here is what I wrote in an orchid thread in 2009:

Go to the very end of Soi Nern Plub Wan, turn left at the T junction, and about 500 meters along you will see a sign for Siriporn Orchids pointing right. Take the right, and follow the signs. It is well sign posted and easy to find.

It is a very interesting place, with some wonderful orchids. If you are lucky and you find the the old boy who owns it there, he will give you a guided tour and explain everything about growing orchids, and show you some of the really rare ones.

He will also show you his large pond, and he will throw a stone in, and about 200 fish will suddenly appear :

He is a fascinating character and speaks excellent English. It's worth the trip just to chat to him.

Enjoy :D

I would add the they do sell and export a large number of orchids and the old boy spends several months a year in Europe.

Be careful as many web sites will show their old address which was in Nern Plub Wan. They have not been there for years.

Thanks very much for that Mobi.

I spoke to them by phone yesterday and sorry to have to inform you (and any other orchid lovers) that the person who owned Siriphon died a few months ago.

Apparently it's the sister now running the business and she said they weren't doing any exports anymore and no longer had a big range of species.

Thanks for your suggestion though.:jap:

I am very sorry to hear that. I met him on 3 separate occasions and he was a one off. Unfortunately, I could discern that on all 3 occasions he had been imbibing a few, so I guess it caught up with him in the end.

A salutatory lesson to me in particular.

RIP
