A wealthy Russian businessman living in Pattaya was allegedly murdered by his lover and a gang of his fellow countrymen last week. At present, two suspects have been arrested after a brief chase and shootout with local police early on Wednesday morning.

Pattaya, the 20th of October 2010 [PDN]: Initially police were informed about the disappearance of Mr. Crishin Victor [36] when his mother, Mrs. Valentina Chishina [70] had recently reported to the Dongtan Police Station explaining that she had not seen or heard from her son since the 14th of October.

Following Mrs. Chichina’s report, a team of officers headed by Lieutenant Colonel Taratep Toopanich (Pattaya Deputy Superintendent) and under the watchful eye of Colonel Teerapol Jindaloung (Chon-Buri Police Deputy Commissioner) and Colonel Nunthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent), began investigating into the disappearance of Mr. Victor, his last known whereabouts and activities.

In the course of their investigations officers discovered that Mr. Victor’s five bank accounts had been accessed everyday since his disappearance with a withdrawal of approximately Bt100,000 per day from teller machines around Pattaya. Suspecting something untoward, officers requested the bank to reduce the daily withdrawal amount to Bt20,000 per day while they investigated the incident further.

At approximately 1:00am on Wednesday, officers approached two foreign men driving a black Toyota Fortuner after they had stopped at an ATM on Sukhumvit road to withdraw cash from Mr. Victor’s bank account. Noticing police, the two men attempted to escape into nearby bushland. One of the men was subsequently shot twice by pursuing officers as he himself pulled a gun on the police in an attempt to flee the scene.

Five bank accounts? Guess Thai authorities haven't heard anything about the Russian mafia so far?

Amazingly, they can bring their prostitutes into Thailand without a passport or any other ID. Just because the Thais like Russian hores?

Mafia wars and real estate business. money laundering and there's no end. At least local cops are making good money too....... :jap:

Was in Pattaya last weekend (against my wish), took a long slow walk through Walking street, the russian dancing outside the upstairs bar place was not bad looking at all, unlike most of her local cousins.

I even saw the one with 18inch waist and 36FF boobs on top some open muay Thai style bar.

The upcoming Hilton looks good and the general area is getting spruced up, must be the massive capital inflow from the Kremliners.

The 12 hours I stayed in the 'nice' lil town my alert level at a constant deep red, though I took my hotdog to the cookout.

just read the full report, and this has to be the BIGGEST <deleted> of the day

At present, Col. Teerapol was reluctant to reveal what charges the two men were facing. However, investigations into the whereabouts of Mr. Alexandrov and any other suspects involved in the murder were ongoing.

Editor's Note: PDN have obtained information from a reputable source within the local police that the two men, Mr. Gasanov and Mr. Aramsis, have not yet been charged with any offence and have been released from custody.

Due to the length of the discussion mentioned in the police report, I feel it is very likely that the pair have struck a deal with police or are taking part in a further operation to arrest Mr. Alexandrov and any other people involved.

so they admit more or less to the murder, show where the body is, have the full ' assin ' kit in there car, and then RELEASED !!!

Unbelievable in this land of unbelievabilities! Two guys pull a gun on the Thai cops and have not been charged (yet) and are released etc? Why don't the cops here get a life?

What goes around comes around. Have you seen the Russians prostituting their Russian women in Pattaya, makes me sick.

You are saying you would feel better if they were prostituting erm erm lets say Ukranian women instead of their own ?

In Moscow they follow people arriving with a lot of luggage at the airport to their homes and when the person goes out they clean the place out. Have been to Russia twice and would never go back. They still whisper about politics around the dinner table with the radio blaring, afraid that the Kremlin is listening to them. Many apartments have two steel doors, because on is not enough.

You have to laugh when a Thai tourism person recently declared Pattaya an ideal family destination. Not sure what family he was talking about though.

Families of the kind that have members with titles such as Capo, con signori , boss of bosses,.

No, just the fact that the police allow foreigners to bring their women to work here illegally makes me wonder how much the Russians pay the police in Pattaya.

They have done the same in Goa India, controlling prostitution and drug sales. They do not hesitate to kill their competition.

No-one followed me when I went to Moscow. There is also a version of this in London. Girl at airport check-in desk takes note of your address and that you will be away on holiday for 2 weeks. She passes these details on to her boyfriend, who then proceeds to burgle your house. I'm sure this happens everywhere, not just Russia. People I met in Moscow were very friendly. You even get to jump the queue in some clubs if you are a Westerner.

There are loads of really up market hotels in Pattaya. Last week we stayed at the Sheraton. its 5 star for about 6000 baht and it was amazing. There are very few places around the world you can get that comfort for that sort of money.

Last month we stayed at nackula there is a whole strip of up market hotels on the beach and no brass.

Unlike other crime ridden places in the world, the Police do have control in Pattaya.

There are no punch-ups in the streets like most towns in Europe at 11:00pm

Its pretty safe. If you walk down Soi 6 wit hthe family you're in for a bit an eye opener but you can easily swerve that. You can see from the top that its going to be a bit lively.

Those bars on the front of beach road are gradually moving back as real estate prices go up. The sleaze will be hidden in the future.

Hilton have just opened there so I'm sure they did there research. Pattaya is on the way up whatever people say about it on these forums. There are some real classy joints popping up.

It is the Russians they follow returning home from abroad, not the foreigners arriving, who usually stay in hotels.

well ignoring the cynical Thailand haters - which is 99% of this thread, Lumumba being one of the exceptions, the popo did a good investigation here. discovered the large atm withdrawals, staked out the atm - overnight - and caught the guys doing the withdrawals. interrogated the one they didn't shoot and found out the Russian guy was murdered. very good police work. im sure the Russian's old lady is happy to know what happened to her kid.

getting released afterwards is how the Thai judicial system works. if you were knee deep in shit, looking at life in Thai prison, you'd wouldn't be complaining about the way it works. you would be emptying your bank accounts.

thumbs up to Lumumba :D

.. though I took my hotdog to the cookout.

100 % agreed. Russians are the only ones who can fly in to U- Tapao airport, direct from fagging Moscow.

Ain't no cops checking Id's? One night for a Thai with a "Russian mai mee arrai puta" more than $ 100. Insane.

They throw old women in jail, selling some Porno Cd's, but these pricks can do what they want.

I'll never forget a couple of years ago, when a Russian freaked out,in a hotel, cops were called. All of them had no education, but a lot of cash. Italian Mafia is like a Kindergarten gang against them.

But no arrest, their boss paid them good money. Thai corruption and Russian Mafia is a very bad and deadly mixture, dangerous for your health. :jap:
