GAZA (BNO NEWS) -- At least 12 people were injured after an explosion blasted a rocket training site in the southern region of the Gaza Strip, local media reported Wednesday.

According to residents in the Tel As-Sultan neighborhood in Rafah, a "huge explosion" was heard, which extended its damage to residences' windows.

Ma'an news agency reported that the explosion occurred at Hamas' military wing Al-Qassam Brigades rocket training site, and among the injured, reportedly by broken pieces of glass, were five children and three women.

Medical personnel rushed to the scene and transported the injured to the Abu Yousef An-Najjar Hospital in Rafah.
