Upper Northeast: Motorists can use Mitraphap Road to get to Nakhon Ratchasima, but should avoid the flooded downtown area by using the bypass.

However, motorists should be careful because KM6 to KM10 of the bypass is still under 20 centimetres of water. The Mitraphap Road can be used to get to Nong Khai.

North: Motorists can travel along Phaholyothin Road to Chiang Rai.

Jomtien is clear and sunny...today, Friday and now 7pm in evening.

Be sure to be careful if going to Buriram.

Lots of water in and around Korat and low areas.

The Li- Lamphun Highway ( #106 ) is closed noth of Huai Yen - traffic is being detoured on the Chom Thong road at Ban Hong - we've never seen so much traffic going through our village.

The dam on the Li River just north of Huai Yen / Ban Hong is over flowing its banks and the highway. It is raining hard and almost continually.

They tried to open the flood sluice on the dam yesterday, but it would not open -- never been used to the best of my knowledge, and obviously not maintained. Their solution to the problem was to dynamite away part of the dam , but the water is still rising . Now all our fields downstream are flooded - goodbye rice and veggies ! I guess the farmers above the dam have more money and influence than thiose of us below the dam.

Only a few months ago the entire basin of the dam was dry mud flats.

I'm on the Monday night train to Nong Khai. I don't see it on the list, but if anyone has any information, that would be great.

The big bus terminal in Korat is still underwater. Tickets are being sold at Tesco Lotus, buses are leaving from different areas. They are parked all over Mittraphap.

Just got off the phone with wifey. She said Phimai is way under water now. She made it through 2 days ago, but doesn't think she can go back that way. It's a real mess and seems to be changing frequently. She traveled from Pattaya to the old bus terminal outside Khorat and then to her village just south of Khon Kaen. Took her 12 hours to get there....

We are a convoy of 10 cars intending to cross Thailand from Sadao in the south to Chiang Khong in the north into Laos enroute to China in a week's time.

On the way, our original plan is to stay over night at Surat Thani, Ayuthya and Chiang Khong.

Now that the flood situation has arisen, we are in a bit of fix to decide which way is the best to avoid all the floods along the way.

Although it is still a week to go and situation may well change, any advise under the current situation will help to determine which way we can take.

Any advice will greatly be appreciated.......

Its just a photo. A frozen moment in time. We don't know if he got later water above his boots or if he put his life jacket on and saved 100 orphans or a cute little kitten.

As far as Mark not going into water that is above his boots, why would you bother to wear boots if you going into deep water? You just risk getting pulled down if the water is moving or loose your boots in any case.
