Yi Peng Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

I see from the Bangkok Post that a certain self appointed gay activist - Khun Nathee - is criticising what appear to be regulations that prevent transvestites from appearing on floats in the Yi Peng/Loy Kratong parade in Chiang Mai. What kind of an opportunist is this man, because two years ago he aligned himself with the C.M. Reds who actually blocked city streets to prevent a basically entertaining & charity fund raising Gay Pride parade taking place. He & the same Reds were also accused of being implicated in the harassment of the Lavendar Lanna hotel, where the owner was found dead in explained circumstances a short time later.

We all know that politicians are lacking any principles whatsoever. This Nathee person needs to be told where he gets off & stop trying to align himself with those who only two years ago he was attacking. Two faced creatures like this are not needed in the LGBT scene in CM or anywhere else..

He speaks for himself and vested intereste, and is no friend of the gay community.

According to a local source of mine, he's not even a real local- in the sense that he's not actually FROM Chiang Mai, and has no more right to speak for Lanna culture than he does for gays.

He lived in Bangkok for many years before moving to Chiangmai. He wasn't well liked in Bangkok either.

Well said Brommers. It's well known he has political aspirations and seems to jump on any passing cause for a bit more self promotion.

Don't think you can link him to death in Lavender though :whistling:

Its not about the death, its about Natee's attempts to force their "cabaret" show to close.

Transvestites or Ladyboys?

I think you mean Ladyboys, who are not in the same category as transvestites.

:cheesy: I know - the comment was meant as a jibe - note the :whistling: Emoticon :annoyed:

The way he wrote it you could take Brommers sentence:

"He & the same Reds were also accused of being implicated in the harassment of the Lavendar Lanna hotel, where the owner was found dead in explained circumstances a short time later."

as implying a link between the "harassment" and the "death" which I suspect Brommers may also have meant in a tounge in cheek way ;) Who knows, as I doubt the truth about what happened at Lavender will ever come out anyway, but I really don't think there is any connection......

Some are and some aren't, dear: some transvestites are ladyboys (but not all) and some ladyboys are transvestites (but not all). Check the long list of definitions another poster gave or take it from one who knows, but pleeeze don't bang on about it!

Some transvestites are straight and would hate to be associated with anything gay and some ladyboys do not cross dress at all and are no more than fem gays, so I imagine that the OP was probably referring to transvestite ladyboys - or ladyboy transvestites, whichever you prefer.

Sorry Sweetie

I don't agree with your definitions, here are mine

Transvestite .... straight guy who likes to dress in women's clothing (usually in private, or a specialist club), prefers sex with women

Ladyboy ..... biological male who takes on the public persona of a woman in dress and by physical modification (surgery), prefers sex with men

Not much in common that I can see.

Oh joy! We're going to talk about the definition of ladyboys again :coffee1:

Well, I'm not as I don't see that there's anything to talk about.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions and they can call a mouse a giraffe if they want to, but if every recognised dictionary or resource describes a giraffe in one way and a mouse in another then I think I'll do the same :giggle:.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Nation reports that the Chiangmai Court has issued an injunction preventing the city from implementing the ban on transvestites taking part in the Loy Krathong parade.

Guess you'll see tonight!!

Happy Loy Kratong everyone!!
