I'm joining a new company and need to apply for a work permit.

I have been staying in Thailand on a non-O Visa for several years now(being extended several time based on Marriage).

Anyone with experience on applying at the One Stop Service Center for Visa, with this configuration?

The agency I'm dealing with, is telling me I really do need a non-B, which I do not think so.

Thanks.

Two questions:

  1. On what basis was your non immigrant Type O visa originally given and was anything marked on the actual visa slip/stamp in your passport when it was issued?
  2. As you are talking about using the one stop centre, then will you be working for a large foreign/BOI company?

He is on an extension of stay for marriage from a non immigrant O visa entry and should be able to obtain a work permit on that; but have no experience on what requirements the one stop center might make.

1. Visit my Thai Wife, I guess, but this was only recorded on the application form for the VISA. There is nothing special written on the Visa itself. On the yearly extensions, there is a stamp "THAIWIFE".

2. Yes.

Like lopburi3 mentioned, with this Visa "non-O", I can and will get a work permit on that visa. The question is effectively, if I would be able to do that at the One Stop Center or not.

You can obtain a WP on any Non-Imm visa (O or B ) as long as you don't have a current extension based on retirement.

Your current extension based on marriage will be no problem when obtaining a WP. In fact it is much easier to obtain a WP if you are married.

It is advisable to continue extending your permit to stay based on marriage! Much easier and no loss of permit to stay if you should quit/lose your job.

No idea regarding the one-stop center but I thought this service is only available for (prospective) employees of BOI promoted companies.

Just to close the loop on this topic, The One Stop Service Center issued the WP and did not have any issue with the Non-O Visa and extension of stay based on marriage.

They however requested the following additional documents:

- Copy of ID card of the wife

- Copy of Marriage certificate

The WP is for a large foreign company.
