Accident Motorcyclist Killed, Pillion Passenger Critically Injured in High-Speed Crash

A motorcyclist died and his passenger was left critically injured in the early hours of the morning of 6 July, after a high-speed crash into a roadside tree on Charoen Nakhon Road. The crash was captured by a passing car’s dashcam. At approximately 01:15, Pol Lt Korakot Phetphong, deputy inspector at Bukkhalo Police Station, received reports of a serious road crash between Soi Charoen Nakhon 70 and 72 in Dao Khanong, Thonburi district. Emergency responders from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were dispatched to the scene. Emergency services arrived to find a mangled white Honda Wave 125i motorcycle lying wrecked on the pavement. The impact had scattered debris across the left-hand lane, and a blue crash helmet was discovered some distance from the crash site. Lying near the tree was the body of Mr Myat Myat Tu 18, a Myanmar national. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He had suffered multiple severe injuries, including a large open wound to the head, broken left wrist and leg and facial trauma. Nearby, rescue workers found the pillion passenger, 21-year-old Mr Zokoko Aung, also from Myanmar, who had sustained critical injuries. His right leg was broken and he had head injuries, bleeding heavily from his mouth and nose. He was rushed to Somdet Phra Pinklao Hospital for emergency treatment. A roadside tree bore the marks of a collision, providing evidence of the impact’s severity. Footage retrieved from the dashcam of a rescue volunteer captured the moment of the crash. It showed the motorcycle attempting a high-speed undertake in the left-most lane before losing control, with sparks flying from the rear of the motorcycle and weaving along the road, before slamming into the tree. The force of the collision flung both rider and passenger some distance from the impact point. Authorities have sent the deceased’s body to Chulalongkorn Hospital’s forensic department. Relatives are being contacted to arrange for the repatriation of the body. Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are reviewing additional CCTV footage in the area to determine the full circumstances. Adapted by Asean Now from Matichon 2025-07-07 -

Musk's father was active in South African politics, and was a member of the Progressive Federal Party, which was the official opposition in Apartheid South Africa, advocating the abolition of Apartheid. It held liberal political positions. Later, he joined the New Republic Party which was more centrist. While Musk's parents divorced, Musk chose to live with his father. Musk's mother was Canadian born, of American descent. Musk's father is of solidly English descent, and not an Afrikaaner. So I would not assume Musk was brought up believing in white supremicist principles. -

Accident Durian Warehouse Worker Killed by Train in Chumphon

A 20-year-old man was killed after being struck by a freight train in Lang Suan District, Chumphon Province, in what police believe may have been the result of severe exhaustion after working night shifts at a local durian packing facility. Police and emergency services were called to the scene at 09:00 on 6 July, after receiving reports of a fatal collision near an illegal railway crossing in Moo 10, Laem Sai Subdistrict. The victim, identified from his ID card as Mr Watthana Bunruedachan, from Ratchaburi Province, was found dead in the grass just three metres from the railway tracks. He had suffered fatal injuries, including head trauma, a broken right arm and fractures in both legs. Personal belongings, including a black shoulder bag, an ATM card and a quantity of cash, were recovered at the scene. A sealed bottle of beer was also found nearby. According to Lt. Nattawut Koetsawat, Deputy Inspector of Ban Nai Huta Police Station, the train involved was Freight Train No. 778. The driver had reported seeing a man attempting to cross the tracks at the unofficial crossing point. Despite sounding the horn in warning, the man continued walking, seemingly unaware of the oncoming train. The train operator attempted an emergency brake, but due to the train’s length and weight, it was unable to stop in time. After the train eventually came to a halt, the operator inspected the area but did not immediately find the body. He was forced to continue to Lang Suan Station to allow a passenger train to pass and later reported the incident, prompting a full investigation. Local residents told reporters that the deceased was employed at a nearby durian processing plant and often worked overnight. It was common for him to walk to a nearby shop in the mornings to purchase food and alcohol before returning to rest. It is believed that he may have been overly fatigued and distracted, possibly causing him to miss the sound of the train horn.
