I suppose it depends how long it's been overdrawn, is it overdrawn on a regular basis and is their proof of a regular income.

It will be up to you to prove that financial support can be provided.

If the overdraft is agreed between you and the bank and is being regularly serviced in accordance with that agreement leaving you sufficient income to adequately maintain yourself and family without recourse to public funds then it should not have any adverse effect.

BTW, as you give the figure in Sterling I assume that you will be applying to the UK and so have amended the topic title accordingly.

It's an agreed overdraft and my normal income covers it. My monthly income varies to over and beyond the overdraft limit (which is £2350) and I'm concerned that being in debt can effect a visa approval.

The ECO will be concerned whether or not you can support yourselves without recourse to public funds.

If you can service any debts that you may have and still have enough income to do so then debts are not a problem.

You may find Maintenance and accommodation helpful.
