The airport usually offers a bit less, this is a world wide issue with people arriving in need of a bit of cash.

Super Rich are about the only people offering the rate you want, they are near Central Plaza so I suppose it all depends how much you want to change to decide if the trip is worth it.

This interactive site shows the various rates on offer and is regularly updated http://bankexchangerates.daytodaydata.net/default.aspx

Super Rich is your friend or at least the best bet for forex in Thailand. 47.85 at the moment. Big place across the avenue from Central World, Google for the map.

47.58 is the mid-point, half way between the buy and the sell price so you probably can't get it, the buy rate will be around .20 less than the mid-point and the sell rate around .20 higher, having said that the rate changes every minute of every business day so nothing is fixed for very long.

Super Rich, always Super Rich for currency exchanges mate, always the best rates.

be careful though, there is one at the BTS station near Central World that has different rates to the actual shop.

Went to the super rich exchange booth at the K village shopping mall and got 47.25 baht for a pound. I bank with SCB and they are offering 46.45, good job I didn't jump the gun and change my pennies with them.

Go to the main office/shop for these rates.

And of course be prepared to queue.

I have never waited longer than 5 minutes there, very quick, go in, they copy your passport, go to the window, do the exchange, sit down and a few minutes later they call you back to hand over your exchanged money. Seriously I have never had to queue there although that does not mean other may have not had to queue.

That's worth knowing, thanks.

I went past there last weekend and noticed loads of people sitting down and I, probably wrongly, thought it was just a long queue.

ah ok, they will have already paid in and will be sitting waiting for the exchange, but they do it very quickly to be fair, there are normally about 5 windows in operation also which speeds up the process.

Hi

I am very interested in this thread.

I need to change THB back into GBP. Is superrich the place to go or is there a better place to get a decent rate exchanging from THB rather than to THB?

Thanks all.

me again,

if anyone wants to do a deal for THB I may be interested.

I am in UK and I will transfer the THB from my Thai account to your Thai account and you transfer the GBP from your UK accunt to my UK account.

I'll also give a higher exchange rate that you can get in BKK.

Worth a chat?

Anyone interested to talk?

cheers

Just a quick heads up: I considered doing similar years ago and it's almost impossible to arrange because of the trust issue, think through the logistics and you'll see the problems. You need to line up someone who banks at the same banks as you at both ends, potentially four different banks involved in all of this, plus you need friendly bank managers etc. Good luck regardless.
