At least 19 bodies found in Mexico mass grave near Acapulco

MEXICO CITY (BNO NEWS) -- A total of 19 bodies have been found in a mass grave in southern Mexico near the resort city of Acapulco, officials in the state of Guerrero said on Wednesday.

The bodies were removed by forensic experts at a clandestine grave located in Tuncingo, a town within the municipality of Acapulco. The site was identified in a video allegedly filmed by drug gangs as the burial site for 20 men kidnapped last September.

Officials with the Guerrero state prosecutor's office said the site was discovered after a video surfaced on YouTube, in which two men detained by a rival drug gang confessed that they killed the people kidnapped, revealing where they were buried.

On September 30, the group that arrived from the neighboring state of Michoacan was abducted by an armed group. A man who reported the mass kidnapping said all the missing worked for an auto-mechanic company in Morelia, the state capital of Michoacan. He said the group arrived for a weekend vacation.

But the alleged kidnappers, who later were found killed on top of the grave they mentioned in the video, confessed that the men were kidnapped because they were members of the Michoacan-based La Familia Michoacana drug cartel.

Officials don't yet know if the bodies are from those missing since September 30.
