Selling My Car - Do I Need Residency Document?

Like the title says, I am selling my car and would like to know if I have to get that proof of residency or whatever it is called from the immigration office first. Thank you!

You never used to.. But lately they have been demanding it on Phuket.. So I guess its one of those Thai ones.. You wont know until you ask them.

I only know this 100% for bikes.. But the safe assumption is any vehicle.

its was a requirement (from the seller) at Pattaya last week when I was swapping a book into my name.

So how does one transfer ownership of a bike? have letter of residence, have book, have old owner, live in Pattaya. I gues I have to go out to the transport centre on Highway 36, also need to tax and insure. any advice would be welcome.
