Thai boxer fined over nud_e photos

A leading Thai boxer has been fined for allowing nud_e photos of himself to be published in a magazine targeted to gay men, according to press reports.

Sirimongkol Singwancha was found guilty of allowing pornographic pictures of himself to be taken and published in Thai magazine Heat, according to the Fridae.com Web site.

The magazine is aimed at gay men and features naked, full-frontal images.

The report claims the champion boxer has had his fine and jail term reduced because he apparently cooperated with local police.

He was due to spend six months in jail for the incident, but his sentence was suspended for two years, during which time he must maintain "good behavior." His fine was reduced to Bt4,000 (approximately $100).

Coincidentily the same sentence and fine recently given to female porn actress Nong Nat

He was reportedly paid Bt200,000 (approximately $4,800) for the pictures, which have become well-known among Thailand's gay community.

The move comes as Thailand pushes a clamp-down on porn -- both in print and online.

Rather ridiculous to really consider posing nud_e as a serious crime, but if they go to the trouble of prosecuting him, what message does it say if they fine him only a fraction of what he obtained from this "crime"? :o:D

And the owners of the magazine will stay in prison how long, and were fined how much? ? ? ?

The bullies who enforce "laws" in this country only do so when their targets are defenseless.

'Heat' and 'Door' magazines are high quality magazines, sometimes soft, sometimes hard porno. The models are great, photojournalism is too.

I was planning to buy a few such mags on my next trip to BKK. Is possession of hard or soft core porno a crime?

Did the Thai boxer perhaps get targetted because he's high profile, well-known?

Possession is not a crime; production, sales, distribution, or just about anything else is. TIT!
