Boeing tells several carriers of 787 delivery delays

2010-11-06 05:09:31 GMT+7 (ICT)

FRANKFURT (BNO NEWS) -- Boeing has told several of its customers that delivery of the 787 Dreamliner will have delays of at least 10 months, Aviation Week reported on Friday.

Korean Air has been told that it will get its first 787 in August 2012, 10 months later than previously planned, while Air India will receive its first 787 in September or October 2011 instead of April, five months months later as planned, and Japan Airlines will take delivery of its first 787 in June 2011, the months later as it was scheduled.

According to Aviation Week, JAL Chief Operating Officer Mararu Onishi is reported to have confirmed the information.

Boeing has said it is planning to deliver the first 787 to All Nippon Airways in the middle of the first quarter 2011 but Aviation Week sources say that this may no longer be possible because "Boeing is battling with a host of issues and late design changes."

The 787 Dreamliner program already is near to three years late.
