Assistant Police Inspector Suhas Chaudhari was standing outside the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower hotel in Mumbai when he accidentally fired his revolver, only hours after the arrival of Obama. U.S. and Indian officers briefly went on alert after the gunshot rang out, but quickly found out what had taken place. Chaudhari was transported to St. Georges Hospital in Mumbai with a gunshot wound to his leg. His condition was not immediately known, but was not believed to be life-threatening. Obama is currently on a four-day visit to India from November 6 to November 9. He is staying at the Taj Hotel, which was one of the scenes of the November 2008 terrorist attacks that left 175 people killed and more than 300 others injured. -- © BNO News All rights reserved 2010-11-07
