Great Time In Pty

Featured Replies

With regards to This thread by our mate Totster I have to say that I always have a great time when I am in PTY. It is true that I live just north of PTY in Sriracha, however everytime I visit the place I always leave with a smile.

I have some great friends who live there and whenever we catch up we, and our wives have a great time...be it golf, shopping, eating or drinking.

We do hear some bad news in PTY, but this is country wide. For example, my wifes cousin was shot in the arm recently in Sriracha, she survived but is expecting the final shot in the head soon. Whilst driving into the Sriracha Nakorn recently my wife witnessed a hit. The poor yaba dealer (confirmed after the fact) was running away from the hit man, only to be stopped by a bullet in the back, the hitman then walked up to him and put another bullet into his head, all witnessed by my wife and her dad (the cops never even questioned them :o ).

PTY is not the only place to suffer such violence, however it's fame means that it will be published.

But, we love it here in the Chon Buri province, and will never change...right?

I think this is world over. Anything good normally isnt worth reporting - least thats the news media's point of view. So the bad news is all we ever get.

Regarding my previous post, I do believe my wife witnessed this crime as I had to sit up with the lights on for a few nights so she could sleep, if I went to the toilet (even though she seemed to be in deep sleep) she would wake up and call out for my location. I am sure those of you that live here can relate.

Other wise PTY and Cho Buri province itself is great, I love it here. Some of the best golf clubs in the wold.

Well... I understand that Pattaya gets it's fair share of countywide problems, and I suppose because of it's high profile we are more likely to hear about them.

It's just a shame that the only thing we see in the pattaya forum is suicide this, stolen that, Mr X arrested etc...

What must people think of Pattaya if they are getting their first impression from this forum, hardly likely to encourage someone to visit

Another point - it was not my intention to critisise the posts (or those who post them) in anyway, but rather to even out the negative and positive.

Tots - I know what you mean, but trust me I'll be first in line to publish good news for Patters. Mind you - no one reads it though!!! :o

FOOD

Pattaya town must have the most and most diversified set of restaurants packed in such a relative small place!

I've eaten cuisines over here I wouldn't have been able to find elsewhere, or if I could have found them, wouldn't have been able to afford them :D

A good night out always starts with some wonderfull exotic food for me!

Major reason for me being here :o

All this talk recently of trouble in BKK, your stories of your wife's cousin (I hope she is OK), and general sense of trouble "right here in River City" is disconcerting.

Is life changing in Thailand? Is there more crime, more danger than before?

We are coming over in November, and I was looking forward to roaming the countryside, but even my wife's family seems to be very protective and very concerned that we will go to safe places.

I intend to visit Sri Racha and Hua Hin on house-hunting trips, along with PTY and spending time with family in BKK, but should I be concerned anywhere, as my wife's family would have us believe? Or are they just overprotective as I had thought?

Is there any thing to the general sense that crime/trouble is on the increase?

I do ! :D

That way I have good things to tell people about Pattaya when ever someone asks about it (surprising how many of my co-workers here have made trips to LOS. Married couples, single guys and single girls).

I may talk about other places in Thailand, if they ask, otherwise I blab on and on about how great Pattaya is, places to stay, things to do, what not to do and so on.

Too bad I wasn't getting a finders fee from T.A.T. (or a percentage of the money my friends spend while there on holiday) ! :o
