Does T T & T Have Own Broadband Internet Service?

3bb broadband have informed me they cannot continue my service via T T & T phone line after Monday 8th Nov. I need a new ISP quickly. Does T T & T have its broadband service now? I'm In Isaan, and T T & T were one of the few companies able to supply a phone line to my village house. T O T could not provide the service. I believe CAT can, but would rather utilise the cable I paid for with T T & T.

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

TT&T use to provide broadband service. It changed. The TT&T service switched to 3BB! You only have a choice between services offered in your area TOT, 3BB, or TRUE. Otherwise your alternatives are CAT CDMA, IPSTAR satelitte service, EDGE or 3G (if you're one of the lucky ones) service from one of mobile phone providers.

It really depends on what's available in your area.

You may have to have 3BB drop another line to your house since they are saying they can't use the TT&T phone line.

Thanks for that. CAT is looking favourite at the moment.

I had IPStar a while back and I wasnt impressed with the Satellite service from T.O.T. I constantly lost connection and on many occasions went to the office to complain. In the end I asked them to remove it.

I am now in a village where there is a land line phone connection available but I have no idea what company to use or what service to ask for . What is the best internet connection speed being offered at the moment ? Who with ? and what is the payment per month ? Many thanks

CAT CDMA works well.

I'm going for CDMA. Expensive to set up, but monthly fee about same as I I've been paying for line rental and ISP (approx 800 baht month)

Depending on how far you are from a tower you may only need the modem. I would get the MC760 Modem this accepts an external antenna if needed. Another advantage with this system is you can take it with you if have a laptop.

Go to the bigger cat shop in your area, my experience was in Chiang Mai that the shops in shopping centres have no idea and limited hardware, find the main store as they can look on a map and tell you what your hardware requirements are.

I'm buying the system from CAT in Sakon Nakhon. They are coming to install an antenna and check the whole thing. As I'm not a IT expert, and wouldn't tackle the job myself, I largely left it up to them to choose what's needed. I do know one other customer close to me bought at the same shop and paid the same price , which I think is expensive at 9000 baht including one months fee. However, it seems the going price here.

As a point of interest, my opening post to this thread about 3bb disconnecting from T T & T, scheduled for yesterday, hasn't yet happened. If they decide to continue, I'll not be happy after just signing up with CAT!

I've not heard anything about 3BB separating from TT&T. I use them together here in Pattaya for years. Could of course be it's something special for Nakhon Nowhere but I doubt it. Those two are conjoined at the hips afaik.

Probably best to go along to your local TOT and 3B offices. They will be able to give you the options available for internet hookup on the phone line.

Just because there is a phone line nearby doesn't mean ADSL will be available.

They quoted me 4000 just to install which I did myself, 9000 is not such a bad price, I got 2 months plus the remainder of the 1st month included but it cost more than what you are paying.

It seems not now. Up country, at least, in Udon Thani, Burriam, Surin, Korat and all big cities, they are installing their own dedicated lines and getting rid of T T & T. Where I live, T T & T is the only phone line available, so with 3BB ending the contract, and due to distance, not prepared to install a line, I have to go to CAT CDMA

Well, I eventually got CAT CDMA installed, and it works fine, but bit torrents aren't very fast - probably being throttled. This Thai passion for using insulating tape and making holes in the wrong place also featured in the installation process. Instead of making a hole in the wall behind my desk, and threading the cable out to connect to the antenna, they drilled a hole near the ceiling, cut the connecter off because it wouldn't go through the hole from the outside and joined it with insulating tape on the inside! The black cable running down my wall makes for decoration I suppose.

I must apologise to the installation guy on one count. He didn't cut the cable. There are two cables involved. He covered the official, proper connecters with tape to 'make safer'. He felt having the cable running down the inside wall was better than on the outside - to stop rain and kids getting at it. Oh well...

Water proofing tape is required where the cable joins at the antenna, any water in the cable and it is only good for scrap
