Hi guys

I'm planning on taking my wife and son back to the UK for christmas holidays for 2 weeks and I'm in the process of putting all the paperwork together.

Has anyone a link to a checklist of all supporting documents required. We have been married 9+ years and she has land and property in her name. My son has UK and Thai passports

My brother will be sponsoring her for the 2 weeks visit and has sent his letter, bank statments and payslips to us already.

The only checklists I can find so far are for 'points based systems'

Thanks for your help

Hi Noodles,

All of the old check lists seem to have disappeared, perhaps they are now outdated or inadequate.

I have attached the check list that my wife used when applying for a tourist visa just over a year ago.

I hope it is of some help.

At the bottom of the new VAC Supporting documents page is

Non points-based system guidance

For non points-based system visa applications please visit the UK Border Agency website for supporting documents guidance.

Following that link will bring you to the right page, where you can download the relevant checklist. This one being for visitors.

Your son, obviously, needs neither a visa nor a sponsor as he has a British passport; but why don't you sponsor your wife? You seem to live with her in Thailand and presumably support her and your son. Also, show that you are legally living with her in Thailand and this will remove most doubts about her returning after the visit.

Remember, too, that this will be a family visit, so use Form VAF1B. Not much difference, except family visit refusals can be appealed against, general visit applications can't

So I think I have got everything in order and ready to go;

1. Her passport

2. Copy ID

3. 1 passport photo

4. Copy completed app form

5. Payment will be made at the UVA

6. My sponor letter, which includes 6 months bank statements, itinery of our visit, hotel confirmations, flight bookings, copy of my passport pages.

7. My brothers sponsor letter, 6 months bank statments, payslips, (hes only just moved to this address so no mortgage accounts yet)

8. Copy mariage certificate both thai and english

9. Copy of her old passport, all pages

10. Copy of blue house book only in thai though

The original Documnets being taken are;

1. Marriage certificate in thai/english translation

2. Her old passport

3. Blue house book

Please let me know if I have missed anthing out.

When I finished the on-lined application, it said I needed to print a copy of the supporting docs checklist, tick the boxes and sign it? I'm having trouble finding this form for VAF1B on their site.

Thanks

Has anyone a link to the supported docs checklist form, with boxes

for ticking, and signing at the bottom? I still can't find it. Or is it not

needed.

Many thanks

I followed the checklist last year. Booked the interview online for my Thai sister in-law. We had the visa in her passport within 5 days. That is from handing the full set of documents in to picking up the passport with the visa in it.

Book an interview if needed the same day you drop off your paperwork. Look for last minute cancelations (online booking, cancelations visible). The VFS were excellent!

You are British your son has a British passport. You only need to show where you are staying when you are there. Letter of invitation should suffice. But include everything they want and more. If you have already started with your brother as the sponsor continue to do so. Put in a covering letter to explain the situation.

In the absence of your brother all they may ask for is proof of accommodation and that she will return to Thailand. That is where pay slips letter from employer land house etc come in. Shows her intent to return.

All visa forms for non points based system can be found and downloaded here:

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/vafs/

Complete visa application form online. Only good idea if you have a good internet connection

http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ApplyNow.aspx

VAF1B Non points based for Family visitor can be found here:

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/resources/en/docs/1903073/VAF1B

Checklist is part of the VFA1B Part 11. The old form does not seem to be there anymore but part 11 is the same.

Guidance notes for application important!
