Hi

Anyone notice the new official looking pricing schedules that are been rolled out at the bus stations in Thailand, in conjunction with relocating of the bus stations several km out of town. The bus stations in Mae Sod and Mae Hong Song have been moved out of the cities, around 2km. New, official pricing schedules have been posted on the walls of the new bus stations, with a starting fare of THB60. This seems 'high' when compared to Bangkok and a 2km ride in an aircon taxi is THB40.

I speak reasonable Thai (for taxis, tuktuk etc...) and wasn’t able to get a motor cycle taxi for the usual THB20 or THB30. The main man at MHS suggested I compare the price to my home country, but had difficulties when I suggested a comparison to BKK was probably more appropriate.

Is it happening at ur local bus station too?
