November 11, 201015 yr To any goodfolk that might know, I need to transfer my current visa into my new passport coming from HK. For sure I have to go to Chaengwattana immigration, but what is the cost? Is it 1900bt? Thanks for any info
November 11, 201015 yr There is no cost for transfer of permitted to stay or extension of stay or re-entry permit stamps. A visa can never be transferred to a new passport and is used for entry in old passport until expired. You need to fill out a short form and provide copies of old and new passport data pages and visa/entry stamp(s).
November 11, 201015 yr I did exactly this today. Really not a big issue. if you want to avoid stress make the copies in advance + Copy of the principal page of the old passport (the one with your picture) + Copy of the principal page of the new passport (the one with your picture) + Copy of TM 7 (arrival card) +Copy of entry stamp +Copy of visa (if you are currently on a visa no need if you had before one and now you are in visa exemption stamp) +Copy of extension ( based on whatever Tourist, work permit, thai wife, studies etc) + Letter from the embassy saying that you passport was replaced. If some of these are on the same side it is fine. No fee and very quick. If you live in Bangkok area and you have come via the airport it will be at one of the K counters at then normal immigration office at Chang watana, If you come via a land border go up to the next floor and look for Immigration division 3. You will see only Cambodian, Lao and Burmese people put it is the right place. Edited November 11, 201015 yr by klauswernst198
November 11, 201015 yr Don't forget that you don't have to transfer youre visa, entry stamp etc to youre new passport to be able to travel. If you don't transfer the stamps, travel with both passports and give them both to the immigration officer at the airport.
November 11, 201015 yr Stamps must be transferred to travel. Only a multi entry visa would be valid in a canceled passport.
November 12, 201015 yr Like you said multi entry visa's remain valid. Single entry visa does not make a difference as they become invalid as soon you leave the country. Same as for the entry stamp as they stamp the new passport with the exit stamp. Mutli reentry permit stamp ( together with non-o ) visa also remains valid.
