Cancel Work Permit?

I'm currently on my third yearly extension of stay based on my employment. I am considering canceling my WP which I believe automatically ends the validity of my extension of stay, though I can pay 1900 Baht for 7 day extension?

My WP and annual extensions are issued via Koh Samui immigration/labour offices. Do I have to cancel WP/extensions at Koh Samui or can I do it at Suratthani office?

Ending employment ends extension of stay and a letter should be obtained of employment end addressed to immigration to end the extension of stay and you can then extend 7 days if you wish.

I do not know status of immigration office there (if under Surat or independent) but normally it must be done at office providing.
