Paying An Airline 'Change-Of-Date' Fee By Debit Card Via The Phone

I have an EVA Air ticket for which I would have to pay GBP 75 to change my return date to Europe.Currently in Pattaya and would like to avoid the trip to Bangkok if possible. Is it routine for airline offices in Bangkok to accept payments by plastic for amendments? And is there likely to be any problem checking-in without a confirmation sticker even though the booking system has okayed the change? Thanks.

I made a change like this earlier in the year. I phoned them up and made the change over the phone, no immediate payment is required.

When you depart you go to the ticket desk (if it's open) and make the payment before departing, if the ticket desk isn't open then there's a customer service rep available at the checkin point, go to the business / first class checkin area to enquire about this, chances are they will take the payment and check you straight in.

Incidentally I was on another flight to Cambodia prior to my return EVA flight and attempted to make the payment several weeks before my flight back to the UK and they told me they wouldn't accept advance payment in cash and it would be better for me to do it on the day I travel.

In the end this was all forgotten about as my newly arranged flight was subsequently cancelled by the volcano disruptions earlier in the year and they rebooked it again - this time with no charge so it all worked out quite favourably for me in the end. I got my extended flight and managed to stay for three months on a ticket which had a maximum life of two months.

Thanks for the information. Do I have to pay my £75 change-of-date fee in Baht on departure from Bangkok? Are charges normally reduced to local currency?
