Looking For Iphone Car Kit For Tomtom App In Pattaya

Featured Replies

I recently downloaded the Tomtom Thailand App for my Iphone and want to purchase the Car Kit from Tomtom for my Iphone. Anybody got any ideas where I can get this? I live in Pattaya and have tried all the obvious places like Tukcom but they do not appear to have it.

I am also having a problem with 'Poor GPS Reception' on my Iphone 3GS...anybody else ave this app and getting the same problem?

Thanks

Van

As I see it you already have two strikes against you, looking for TomTom support in Thailand and trying to make a mobile phone work as a car GPS. I'd rethink my approach to meeting your requirements.

I wonder if you ever found a solution to this? Downloaded tomtom to my iphone and having the same "poor gps reception" issue.

How long did it stay in the "poor gps recep mode"..? I think mine was stuck once or twice, the gps picked up by itself eventually/. and yes i was on iphone 3G back then. read NOT 3GS.

Been using iphone's Tomtom for quite a while, it's more responsive upcountry then in town...

Cheers

3GS already comes equipped with A-GPS, no car kit required. For support, TomTom is reachable by email. they have a rather efficient team with quick response.

Lastly, TomTom Thailand for iPhone has been; and will be my primary navigating tool for the "foreseeable future" so to speak. This application makes my mobile phone work as an impeccable car GPS.

I ordered two car kits plus some mounting brackets from ProClip in the US recently. (one for my car and one for my bike)

The TomTom car kits are not cheap, but I like the convenience of a phone based GPS that will go with me, including my favorites, over the few disadvantages.

Shipping was $34 and took only 4 days. (had to pay THB2,000 duty on the $300 order).

ProClip mounts are excellent quality and design if you are car mounting. Better than windsreen mount. They also have quick change brackets if you want to move between vehicles.

Seems expensive, but still reasonable compared to buying a separate stand alone GPS.

Yes, that does seem expensive, and I'm not sure whether it's all that reasonable compared to buying a stand-alone GPS here. It looks like your system adds up to about 5,200 baht each. An entry-level Nuvi 1250 Garmin GPS with Thai maps costs 5,900 in Bangkok. Or you can get a Nuvi 1360 with a wide 4.3" display for 8,900 baht. Of course everyone has different preferences, but I much prefer not having to juggle between using the GPS and using my iPhone.

Did you find a tom tom car kit for your iphone? I brought one in from England in Jan11 and used it to go to a friends wedding in Chantaburi province with my iphone 4 and TomTom app, the signal was perfect and fast responce because of the built in GPS. Also has bluetooth facility for hand free phone calls. Alas I bought an new Isuzu with Satnav already in so the car kit is surplus to requirements. If you or any other member is interested in the kit then it's available now, I am in Mahasarakham province.
