Some pat down humor from Lewis Black (American comedian).

New York to Los Angeles in only five hours PLUS a get my balls felt up?!? Such a deal!

Perhaps I should charge THEM for a baggage handling fee?

Does anyone remember why we're not allowed to bring any liquids (or max. 250 ml) aboard an airplane? It's because some MUSLIMS in the UK were going to BLOW UP an bunch of airliners with LIQUID EXPLOSIVES : or so say George Bush and Tony Blair. Muslims without tickets.

Muslims without passports.

Muslims without bombs.

Muslims without a clue … and they aren’t the only ones, it turns out. Without a clue, that is.

What kind of bombs? TATP bombs, short for triacetone triperoxide. What’s more, Bush and Blair told us that Muslims favor the TATP bomb, mixed on the spot with separate liquids. With that lie, both Bush and Blair foreclosed any possibility that the Muslims involved actually were guilty. With that lie, both Bush and Blair disclosed themselves for the treasonous, lying criminals that they are. Why? Glad you asked.

=========

The men involved were sentenced to very long sentences of 20 years and more -

Sarwar, 29, must serve at least 36 years, while Tanvir Hussain, 28, was jailed for at least 32 years at Woolwich Crown Court.[106]

In July 2010, Ibrahim Savant, Arafat Khan and Waheed Zaman were found guilty at Woolwich Crown Court and sentenced to life in prison for conspiracy to murder. They must serve a minimum of 20 years in prison before being eligible for release.

Several pilots have complained about the "ridiculous" luggage restrictions that was thought up by "utter morons".[84] Carolyn Evans, head of flight safety at the British Airline Pilots Association, said that "the procedures put in place are not sustainable long term, and unless the passengers are treated more reasonably we will not have an industry left".[84]The British government was criticized for scare mongering for its response to the alert[85] and for using it to drive through unpopular reforms.[86]

Of course, more than 4 years later, still no liquids are allowed on an airplane, and in spite of the fact the no airplane has been brought down, the "security measures" chipping away steadily but surely at civil liberties, become ever more tighter, more humiliating and more complex.

Thank goodness Thaivisa has dropped that rule that all threads must be related to Thailand. It really closed a lot of doors for potentially interesting information or discussions.

I agree that people should refuse to use these body scanners, and like Mr. Tyner, they should do so for a number of reasons, with gross invasion of privacy and health concerns topping the list.

I'm not scared by those propaganda stories of terrorism. I believe it's becoming quite clear that the true terrorists are working in key government offices around the world. If people don't start to fight back and regain their freedom very soon, it will be too late.

So if you broke a leg you would refuse an X-Ray. ?

would you accept an X-ray before each and every walk to make sure you didn't break your leg?

Your link doesn't work for me Renbe. It is also found at Gizmodo here: http://gizmodo.com/5...aked-body-scans

The newer type of Body Scanners reveal a much clearer picture than the types used to make the scans you are referring to.

And, of course, as with all technology, the next generation scanners will reveal even more...

"Tech blog Gizmodo published 100 of the images on Tuesday, obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request, noting that marshals had "mismanaged" the machine. The photos are not of a graphic nature as they were taken using a less advanced scanning method than what's generally employed in airports.

The link doesn't work because the word nud_e is changed ?!?!?! So I suppose that the word nud_e is off limits,

yes I can imagine why, in a world where nud_e scanning becomes the norm, the word nud_e is censored....

Do you think that the security measures might have something to do with the lack of destroyed airplanes full of passengers? :whistling:

I repeat - these liquid bombs, underwear bombs, shoe bombs, printer toner bombs - are ALL originating OUTISIDE the USA. Someone go over there and grope those people and leave good ol' domestic American travellers alone. ;)

From where did the airplanes that flew into the Twin Towers originate?

Is THAT why we can't take liquids on planes anymore? NO.

Is THAT why we have airport security gorping people in the crotch? NO

Is THAT why cigarette lighters aren't allowed on planes? NO.

Is THAT why small children and the elderly are subjected to searches? NO.

Standard security measures - AND PROFILING - would have stopped the 9/11 hijackers (and saved a lot of lives around the world).

Don't think you understand that who ever leaves a window open will get burgled, especially in the USA. :)

1) That has nothing to do with flying.

2) If you live in Thailand, you know leaving your window open is even a worse idea than in the USA.

It just gets worse! now a video of a small girl telling the security guard to stop touching her has surfaced. Now can somebody tell me how many very young Caucasian children terrorists there have been ? It is time to get real here and leave the political correctness crap at the departure lounge. Start profiling people. Stop the unnecessary over the top searches of grannies and children and concentrate on those that fit the profile.

If Muslims want to complain about this then I would suggest they target the people who are killing innocent men, women and children in the name of their God.

The saying " Not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims " Is something they need to be reminded of. The only people that can stop this are the very silent peaceful Muslims we are forever being told about but never hear. They need to start to complain and condemn those that are doing this.

Transam, are you serious? You equate one to the other? Really?!?!?!?!

If a person needs medical......oh never mind. No sense wasting my time trying to explain.

Just once, Instead of complaining about the security measures,I wish the complainers would suggest a viable alternative. What are the options?

1. Profiling? Are the people now moaning about the loss of civil liberties prepared to accept that only certain groups be screened? It' is impossible to do that unless there is an absolute suspension of ALL civil rights at the airport. How would you feel if you were an Indian Hindu and some ignorant oaf at the airport assumed that because you were of dark complexion that you were a high risk passenger?

2. The ban on liquids arises from the plot to bring down 7 international flights to Canada and the USA. It wasn't the USA looking to cause more aggravation. The British authorities did prevent the bombings. The ban is expected to be lifted in 2012 once the new scanners are in place.

3. People complain about children and folks in wheelchairs being screened. Well, children have been used for suicide bombings in the middle east and Afghanistan. Often, mentally retarded teenagers are selected to act as the carriers. Why is there an assumption that someone with a disability is less likely than an able bodied person to carry an explosive? It would be easy to carry a bomb in a prosthetic. Only the new scanners can detect that.

The TSA gives people an option. Either the scanners or the pat down. How else is someone going to be screened? Have you ever looked at the bins of seized items? in the last year I have seen the following items seized, Large knife, shears, a lighter that looked like a pistol, toy guns and flares. Look at the various websites for the US, EU and Canadian airport security agencies. They used to post a list of the items seized. We all know that we cannot bring road flares or toy guns on a plane and yet people still try. We all know the rules on liquids and yet there is always some idiot holding up the security line because she's got 3-5X the permissible volume of liquids. How do all the people complaining propose that these people be dealt with? How will you stop the flares and plastic guns from being brought on in the absence of more thorough screening?

So profile Muslim children, Muslim folks in wheelchairs, and mentally challenged (or whaterver the latest PC term is) Muslims.

btw - Did the IRA use anyone from these groups for their bombings?

Before an argument ensues, Islam is a religion, not a race, and nobody's religion is written on any travel document, so let's pick a different solution.

I'm of two minds about this. On the one hand I applaud those resisting these extraordinarily invasive measures. On the other hand I fear people's resistance will force the government to down a few more planes in order to swing the argument back their way.

Let me try again for you.

Whether a bomber a house breaker what ever, the perpetrator will look for a weakness, when that is found they work on it. These scanners have been developed to take care of a weakness in the system.

Then put the scanners in European airports since that's where the attackers since 9/11 have originated from.

btw - wasn't the underwear bomber escorted onto the plane in Amsterdam without a passport? Or is that another urban myth?

That's true. So let's profile people who look Middle Eastern. That doesn't mean submit each and every one of them to a pat down. It does mean that we need TSA employees who are highly trained in what to look for from suspicious people and make sure that they are extra careful with ME'ers.

Er, I thought the authorities are doing it (ie profiling people of Mid East appearance) already...except they do not acknowledge it publicly.

Following some of the "arguments" here, all terrorists are Muslims and their target is non Muslims (particularly citizens of USA, Israel and their allies)... I suggest aircrafts strictly for Muslims and their friends only, to exclude all US passport holders, Israelis and their allies (Australia, UK etc). So if I were an approved Muslim travelling on such an all Muslim&friends aircraft, all the intrusive security options can be reduced. Sorry if some US passport holders who are friends are "unintentionally" excluded, because the profile says they ought to be excluded so that the risk of bombing is greatly reduced.

I am not serious of course.

The so-called "solutions" only serve as a red flag to people intent on killing to up the ante and devise new methods. And then we shall have more "security measures" ad infinitum.

I do not know what the solution is, but I think there are other bigger issues that need to be addressed other than implenting new security measures in reaction to every bulge in passengers' pants, every metal wire in our shoes/bras/hats. Also, why bother to scan pilots other than to illustrate "security measuires" gone mad? If they wanted to crash the aeroplane they will just pilot it to the ground, with or without hidden bomb!

Posted

Security measures will never be perfect and lowlifes will constantly be looking for new ways to defeat them.

However, they drastically reduce the number of successful slaughters by these murderers and that makes them worthwhile.

If I were trying to smuggle a bomb on a plane, I would just swallow a few baggies of semtex to recover in-flight.

Detonator in my ipod/laptop/mobile/belt buckle/etc.

As far as I know nothing can detect internal semtex.

Let's face it if the big boys want to down a plane, they will.

It's only the nutters that can't get hold of the good stuff

I have no particular problem going through a scanner. I would like to be assured that they don't propose a health risk, or if they do, the level of risk. I have had and don't particularly mind a pat down. I once had a full body search, but that was at a land crossing and let's just say they had a pretty good reason for doing it--that was a rather embarassing and uncomfortable experience--and probably accounts for my attitude toward the less intrusive methods.

Profiling people won't work. As mentioned, the religion isn't written on the passport. Also, I have friends who are Muslim and they are blond haired, fair skinned and blue eyed. They aren't middle eastern. Good luck at getting them.

But there is a sure, simple, non invasive test, that applies in this instance.

CNDvic removed my post detailing the test as a troll post.

What works is what the Israelis do. It isn't the same as profiling. It involves highly trained questioners who know how to read people's responses to questions from a psychological perspective. It would mean the money would be spent much more on the staff than the technology. The scanners are pure theater. They do not detect explosives inserted into the anus. The foolish people that think the scanners and molest searches are fine with them are setting the stage for anal searches. Of course we have to submit to whatever the misguided government forces us to submit to if we want to fly, but we do not have to SUPPORT it or believe it is the best solution.

What is rather amusing about this issue is that the American left and the American right are somewhat in agreement about the scanners/airport molestations issue, perhaps for somewhat different reasons, but it's still interesting. The middle which is the majority is OK with it of course and it will stay. Grumble, grumble.
