my wife applied to spouse visa to uk at british embassy in india. inerviewed her 2weeks ago said at the endm of the interview they'd call her when they decide. no reply yet. phoned embassy today, they said they are waiting to hear from home office. she used to be an assylum seeker in uk then she went back to india voluntarily few months back. now enbassy want to check her old immigration status in uk that's why they contact the homeoffice.

is anyone out there know how long the home office in uk would take to respond to the embassy? has anyone experiened similar situation? who shall we contact to see how long it will take? british embassy in india only saying they are waiting for home office reply.

I'd go with Richard's assessment. If nothing has been heard after 2 months, then chase up the (deputy) high commission and they in turn will chase up the Home Office.

I've already contacted the embassy they are simply saying all depends on when homeoffice send reply to their queies about my wife's old immigration record. doesn't sound like they'd chase the homeoffice , they'd wait to hear from them as long as it takes.

I was wondering can I contact the Home office in UK my self?

some people sying if we contact the embassy or home office about our application process it might slow down the process. is it true? or is it just the authorities excuse to stop the hasseling from applicant's

Even the high commission would ultimately chase the home office; they can't just leave the application dangling in the air. I wouldn't contact the home office directly as the group to which these requests are made doesn't take calls from the public. It is always possible that the visa officer has requested an immigration officer make a home visit, too. So, be prepared for a knock on the door.

thanks for your quick responce.

why the home visit? would I be inform before hand about their visit or will they just turn up on my door step? has it ever happen to anyone? I will be out monday-friday 9-5 working. so what'd happen if they turn up within that time?

will they come on late evenings or weekends? it's the first time I hear something like that could happen so please let me know what you know.

is there any time limit for an entry clearence to make a decision on an application? are entry clearence officers allowed to take long as they need?

they must have put some time limits.

There is no set time limit. However, the length of time they take has to be reasonable given the circumstances of a particular application. I would suggest that if you've not heard anything after 2 months then contact the high commission.

A home visit is not made in all cases, only a very few. Should one be made, it will be unannounced and will probably be on a Sunday - those immigration officers love their double bubble. :o

thanks for your info. I thought working hours is mon-fri 9-5 even for immigration officers. I'll be prepared and better put some photos of us together out on display and keep the house clean

hmm!!! you are right, they work hard to catch the wrong people.

just prepare for a worst senario, just in case...

If they refuse a spouse visa and we have the right to apeal but we don't apeal within that 28 days. what would happen then? the case will close automatically?

can we re-apply for it(start from the beginning) after 28 days?

Posted

you mean we can re-apply even before the end of 28 days apeal period. so why people apeal rather than re-apply that's what I don't understand.

waiting for 2 months already. am planing to contact my local MP and see whether he could do anything to speed up the application process. is it good idea? anyone??

Yep, its a good idea. In the UK it would have been assigned a case worker. It could well be languishing in their in-pile. A quick note on pailiamentary headed paper to the section head might get it moving. Worked for me.

Quite right Mmm, those lazy tossers are probably just wasting your wife's valuable time dealing with the hundreds of thousands of bogus asylum seekers when of course they should be urgently addressing the infinitely more pressing matter of your marital status. But then, she has first hand experience, has she not?

Get real laddie, stop whingeing and wait your turn.
