Internet Cafe Education

Featured Replies

I've been spending many interesting hours in a tiny Internet Cafe in Patpong, BKK recently... MAINLY because it has fast machines... 1 baht/min and 60% of the time you can actually print something. ! :D

However, the education has been watching all the people coming in to go online to chat to their "friends"... (and ask for...............)

Fill in the blank. :o

WOW. What an education. If I ever had any questions before, I sure don't now.

There's even a Thai woman here who writes in English what they want to say in e-mails...

:D

I was thinking of opening "the mai sabai kwai cafe" myself :o

The "lonely hearts scam" is probably as old as mankind. From residents in U.S. prisons to pages of "ads" in newspaper's "lovelorn" columns, the variety is endless.

ChrisP, thanks for the update. my Thai was the slowest ever on his replies to my e-mails, now perhaps, I must think of it as to his credit, as he would look up words in his dictionary to correspnd with me.

I guess if the writer of a message is sincere, the help of an interpreter or translator is not anything to worry about, except when the translator starts to get "inventive". The scamers are just that, with or without help.

When you think of the number of tourists visiting every year and the number of persons "available" to "service them while they are here", the number of e-mails maintaining the "relaitonshipss" after the falang retrns to his home country must be substantial.

...and I help out too sometimes...heheheh...one guy even left a note for me in the shop asking for my E-mail so he could get more help as "one" of his BF said he cried at my letter...

I think it is hilarious...then again I an evil wench...

:o

My Thai has spurned the use of email and uses the mobile I bought him :o to keep me updated by SMS :D

You don't have to pay 60 baht an hour to use internet, even in fleshpots. Sounds like these local email users have money to burn.

I'm paying 20 baht/hour in a really good cafe across the street from a downtown fleshpot, but I'm in Hua Hin.

Needing a lot of cash for motorcycle repairs is good, too; kind of a modern version of sick buffalo.

Chris, there's a cafe place just up from saledeng BTS , O'reilly's side, which has great internet access and the absolute BEST eggs benedict in town which you might want to check out. I gather it's a "gay" cafe (??) but since everyone seems happy, I could really care less, like any place I go :D

Eggs Benny, plus a tall lemon Ice tea (fresh made like) all in for 'bout 160 baht, plus free wifi, Xcellent! :D

PS, the printing thing? Yep, I share your pain :D
