New Resaurant Spotted

I noticed a new American diner place, situated in the same square as Sunrise Tacos etc, near Sukhumvit soi12. Actualy it's hard not to notice, it was lit up like something out of Vegas or Pattaya!

Does anyone have any further infomation?

Saw it last evening and stopped by to take a look (I had reservations at the Landmark, so I couldn't eat there).

It is decorated as an American diner and has a limited diner-type menu as well as a selection of Thai dishes. Prices looked reasonable.  It is open 24 hours, so I imagine that I will stop by some late evening.

I do like the French place in the same shopping center.  Nice food if not too an extensive menu.

As of today they've just expanded their menu and there are quite a few choices now. I ate in there a couple of hours ago, had a burger (no bun) with gravy, mashed potatoes and salad and it was pretty good. Prices reasonable, staff nice. A place I'll probably return to.

I ate in there a couple of hours ago, had a burger (no bun) with gravy, mashed potatoes and salad and it was pretty good. Prices reasonable, staff nice. A place I'll probably return to.

A Diner staple, Salisbury Steak. Acceptable when there is no Meatloaf.

A Diner would be in my top 3 places to open in Thailand with some really rude but funny thai lady staff and of course some great greasy food. I think a few nationalities here couldn't handle it.

Personally I changed my mind and left when I saw the price list. I don't need to pay for atmosphere. A real diner back in the States, situated in the real heartland or midwest, is cheaper. I usually avoid tourist prices whenever I can. That's just my opinion. Others seem to differ.

I can't say a PCS is traditional American diner food, whereas, a roast beef french dip sandwich is.

I had a friend stop there with another friend of hers a few nights ago as they can get into a club in back for free if they order food.  Both told me the food was pretty weak, even for something as simple as french fries.

I told my wife I'd seen a new restaurant there and after she had passed by one day, she said she hadn't seen a restaurant but it did look like there was an amusement arcade there!

Talk about "Coals to Newcastle", no shortage of either here. Now a real Diner, excellent. I can just see "Earl eating the whole right side of the menu, he's on the Maryland Fried Chicken now".

I've got two 1,000 baht vouchers for the Home Run bar and Grill.  I plan on going on Saturday night, so I will post my impressions on it.

I agree totally--when I saw I would be paying 200++ Baht for a hot dog or 350++ for a hamburger I left without ordering.

Stopped by the V8 Diner the other day... Have some review comments coming soon..

But meanwhile, was disappointed to discover that they DO NOT have any Dr. Pepper soda available to drink/order from their menu...

Rather, their menu had some info saying they were ordering another shipping container of Dr. Pepper, and would be selling 24 can cases of the soda in the future for about 750 baht per case... No timeframe given... That works out to about 31 baht per can, or $1 a piece, which isn't bad for Thailand.

Any idea what's happened to the V8 Diner, there across from SUNRISE TACOS on Sukumvit just short of Soi 12? I've stopped in there twice now recently, once for breakfast, closed, once again for lunch, closed.

Where to eat lunch now that the Lonestar's closed??

I stopped by in the afternoon one day recently, and was told that day they didn't open until 5 pm.... But it also was on one of the Thai Buddhist holidays, so I just thought they had a short schedule that day due to the holiday...

I guess I'll have to check to see if they've changed their general morning and lunch hours... Previously they were open 24/7, I believe.

I did notice, along the way, that they've curtailed their formerly great happy hour, raising the prices and narrowing their drink choices.

Their general web site still says breakfast, lunch and dinner... And their updated happy hours page, with the new higher priced drink specials, says it starts from 1 pm... So that would seem to suggest they should be open during the days.

UG, the non-working menu button on their web site has been the same ever since the place opened, many months ago now... And the actual menu isn't that long or involved that it would be so difficult to put online...so... who knows...

The western food there that I've tried has been decent and reasonably priced... For breakfast, assuming they're still open for breakfast, they have quite decent pancakes.. But I also tried one of their eggs breakfasts, which again, was OK except that it came with hash browns, which consisted one one of those rounded, frozen HB patties you buy in the grocery store imported from Australia... If they're going to operate as an American style diner, would it be so tough to fix their own fried potatoes???

For the broader menu, they have a selection of different burgers, dogs and sandwiches, as well as a selection of modestly priced Thai dishes...the basic Thai standards that a GF might order... For my taste, the western food there is better than their Thai dishes that I tried, but...I guess, that's what should you'd expect...

One thing I quite liked there is they have a good order of chili fries, with freshly cooked fries topped by what seemed like their own homemade chili, a ground beef, tomatoey variety... I think I may have tried one of their burgers along the way, but if I did, it didn't leave any special impression...

The things that stuck in my mind about the place, apart from their now abandoned 29 and 39 baht beer happy hour drink specials, were their chili fries and pancakes.

Thanks for that. I agree with you about the "hash browns" frozen patties. I am dissapointed every time that I am presented with them somewhere.
