Application For Passport In Ayuatthaya

Featured Replies

Hello

I am from Switzerland and I have a Thai wife. Her child will come to Switzerland next year and therefort the boy needs a valid passport.

The boy is living with his grand parent in Ayuattaya.

Is it possible to apply for a passport at the Immigration Office in Ayuatthaya or do they need go to Bangkok for this purpose?

Many thanks

Wysi

It's not the immigration department that issues passports - it's the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The MFA website can probably answer your question. Perhaps start at http://www.mfa.go.th/web/474.php

They will have to go to Bangkok, as the Foreign Ministry, consular section at Chang Wattana would be the nearest passport office.

But it is a quick process that should take less than 30 minutes. The passport can be send to the home adress for 35 baht, it will take about 4 working days to receive the passport.

For a minor both parents will have to sign the passport application, you don't have to appear both at the passport office. If the child has only 1 parent proof of sole custody needs to be shown with letter from the amphur.

Hello

Thank you all for the answers!!

<_<

I have just called the Thai Embassy in Bern Switzerland.

They told me that we can initialize the process in Switzerland.

Since my wife has not been in Thailand, sombody of the family will take the children to the Foreign Ministery.

Cheers

Martin

Yes, the embassy can certify the application. Might be wise to give the family member who will show up with the children to apply for the passport a power of attorny to apply on your behalf for the passports.
