Oh no need to be sorry, my offence is of no relevance or concern really. In any case, you have negated it - thank you.

I do note you rise to troll-bait far less than I, but I don't have as much patience for ad hominem insults posted freely in response to facts posted to counter-act personal opinions.

I feel that's important. I don't actually have any 'loyalties' or 'agenda'. I'm here to learn, and waste time. If someone could show me why Thaksin's crimes should be ignored, or if someone could counter the evidence proving them, I would support Thaksin.

But no one does that. In fact, they do worse. They attack Abhisit without evidence.

Even worse than that, they fabricate lies that I really only KNEW were lies because I saw it all develop with my eyes (if I wasn't living in Bangkok during the riots, I almost certainly would have been none the wiser after watching the CNN / BBC reports). When you try and politely correct them, they ignore you or launch ad hominem attacks which are ridiculous, in the extreme.

This is concerning. It feels like someone knows something I don't. Something it would be better for me know. But until someone tells me what it is, I am forced to continue to discuss it - and I can only discuss issues one way, and that is objectively. I correct the record when I know it to be wrong, I seek the truth and seek to learn about things I'm unaware of. I've been discussing this issue for months now and all I've seen is truth and some omission on one side, vs blatant, outrageous lies and misrepresentation on the other side. I continually try to be pragmatic and objective, but just run into walls of Red fabrications which, when I investigate them hoping against hope there is some validity, prove completely false every time.

It's enough to frustrate anyone. Heaven forbid I should correctly describe their behaviour or intelligence, or god help me if I describe their lies in colourful terms. I'm banned for doing that on other discussion boards. When I respond to provocation and ad hominem attacks with 1/10th the vitriol launched at my softly spoken arguments and questions.

I even appealed to his intelligence and used soft-impact language when disproving his lies, in an effort to determine whether he was actually just confused or merely spreading false propaganda in an attempt to lobby for political change.

I guess he's given the answer to one of my questions, after all. Somewhat indirectly, but in his defence, the question was not explicit either.

That's obviously the smart thing to do, but either my idealism, stubbornness or maybe OCD prevents me. Idealism in longing for justice (either the confused person presenting false arguments is educated and corrects the record, or presents new argument / evidence, or the record is corrected on their behalf with a warning to cease/desist, sanctioned if they persist). Stubbornness in being a debater, I just can't reconcile a person who, when their claims are proven fictitious, they just ignore and go on claiming. OCD re: having the last word when the other last party is continuing without countering.

But yes, that's the smart thing to do. I shall do that, and I think zip it on politics altogether. Too much I don't understand, no one willing to explain it to me, things happening which are unthinkable, stuff is happening WAY over my head (my ability to detect logic), no one willing to explain why they or anyone are doing what they do. It's time to exclusively talk sports / culture or something now I think. shiver. I would give anything for someone to just explain the realities of what is going on, even if - especially if - it means I should REALLY zip it.

This world is too insane - or too brilliant - for me. My mind BOGGLES.

lol I want to bury the e-hatchet. There is WAY too much crazy stuff going on that I can't understand. I have my principles but they are cowardly principles and easily negated. I look forward to atoning for my sins and pledging allegiance to my new masters when they ascend back into power. Truth is over-rated. Bygones let be etc
