I'm going to get a tattoo done. Does anyone know of any good tattooists that you recomend? I'm thinking about getting some thai writing on my lower stomach. I recently had to get the one on the bottom of my back re-done because the tattooist wasn't very good and I don't really want to go through that again.

Oh and I've been told the lower stomach is very painful...Is it?

for my experience.. ok i got one at the wrist (watch position) i did it coz my ex-BF want us had a same sign ( i never liked tattoo..)..anyhow few yrs after that we end up..(and i dont like tattoo on my body, in the removal stage now)

well , my point is .. i wish you think it well be4 do it.. im not against people who has tattoo, some look cool ..but i dont like it on myself

well .. if u do it at lower stomach ,its more pain than other place ..BUT , when you remove it.. IT MUCH MORE PAIN

He wa very clean and I saw him open a new needle and sterilise it and stuff but I wasn't too keen on his work and apparently he went too deep into my skin according to a friend. Well It was the worst pain I'd felt before in my life maybe that was why.

The problem in Thailand is that many people don't accept responsibility or that they have a duty of care to their customers/ patients.

I had tatoos done when about your age, and in common with many, wish that I never had. Are you sure that you really want more, especially if you are not happy with the one you have.

I certainly would not consider having a tatoo in Thailand.

My wifes friend has a tattoo parlour and she's very good.

Also if you want to be really safe (a bit more expensive) the wifes brother in law is an award winning american artist and he has a parlour in his house.

I probably sound like a boring old git when saying so, but I would advice against it. It is something you will be carrying for the rest of your life, and your taste in most things will change drastically in the next years. You are 17 now, if I remember right - in just a few years you will probably look back at the type of boys you liked, the kind of music you fancied, the kind of clothes you were wearing, etc, and think - yuk - what was I thinking???

Why not express your individuality in other ways? You appear to be a young lady with a good head on your shoulders.

In my opinion tatoos were perhaps cool when they were rare - when everyone is getting one it looses it "uniqueness". But then again, I am one of those who don't find ink stains on/under skin very appealing in any combinations - it just seems a bit silly to me.

But if you absolutly have to do it - please wait a few more years. Remember it is a deed difficult to undo.

I got 2 tattoos done in Bangkok. First was 12 years ago on a drunken binge on Koh San with some backpackers. Of course, in those days everything stayed open all night so at daybreak where did we decide to go once we fell out of the pub? Sure, to the tattoo parlour. So with a guy that I had only just met that evening we stumbled into the parlour. It was dingy, smelly etc. About 7am...... I think the owner slept there. So the other backpacker asks me to go first - last I saw of him!!! Cause I passed out and woke up a few hours later with a brand new tattoo!

Second, tattoo I was more sober. PLanned this one nicely..... but the guy took so long that my arse hurt more than the tattoo.... NO joking!!!....

Well I've thought about this for ages. I planned three. One on my lower back which I have, one on my lower stomach which I will have and one on my back (small fairy wings) I want the fairy wings to be designed to look really unique to me. I have fair skin and I've been told colour looks great on my skin. I don't really know if I want to look like a rainbow though.

I don't agree. I like to think of myself as mature for my age, I mean yes I have a laugh and stuff but I can be mature when coming to descions about tattoos. Firstly I wouldn't of asked for a tattoo by saying "yo.....dad i want a tattoo" that just shows your age. And besides my Dad had his first tattoo at age 15 and he has no regrets.
