Suthat Temple offers to perform religious rite for 2,002 aborted foetuses

Suthat Thepwararam Temple has offered to perform a religious rite and bury 2.002 aborted foetuses, a senior official said Friday.

Nopparat Benjawattananon, the director of the National Buddhism Office, said Wat Suthat and other temples offered to burial ground for foetuses.

The foetuses have been hidden inside the mortuaries of Wat Phai Ngern by undertakers there until they were uncovered recently. The undertakers were hired by some abortion clinics to dispose the foetuses.

Nopparat said his office would consult with police investigators to find out if the foestues could be buried and they would have to be kept as evidences.

Money Expo Chiang Mai opened

Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij on Friday presides over the SET in the City Zone at the Money Expo in Chiang Mai.

The event runs until Nov 28 at Chiang Mai Plaza Chiang Mai Airport.

Banks and other financial institutions have offered a wide range of products, targeting to draw new clients in Chiang Mai and nearby provinces.

Daily minimum wage should be increased by Bt10: PM

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said Friday that the daily minimum wage should be increased by Bt10 to Bt11 next year.

Abhisit said he had instructed the government representatives on the tripartite wage committee to increase the daily minimum wage by Bt10 to Bt11 next year.

The prime minister said businesses should adjust themselves for the pay increases.

He said the wage rise should make Thai economy more acceptable.
