why are you so eager to take the train to Singapore ? from Hat Yai to KL it is already a h*ll of a slow ride, and to SG it may easily be another 8-9 hours, where as a luxury-VIP-24-seater-Bus does the trip in 4-5 hrs.

2 years ago, I took the train from JB (on the Malaysian side of the Causeway) to KL, to save one night of accomodation (and the 1st class is cosy indeed - I was the sole passenger in the 3 carriages of 1st class ! ), and it took us no less than 13 hours to make the 350 km ! supposed to arrive at 6.30 a.m., we finally made it to SENTRAL at 11,30 !!! well, the good thing was, I could check into my hotel at KL right away ^^

Thanks guys for both of your replys yes after looking at it I think its going to be Tiger Airways and fly down and fly back the next day , The problem is I need to go to the bank in Singapore and they close at 15.30 , Tiger dont get in till I think 16.30 or some thing like that so the bank will be closed by this time so means straight over to some cheap hotel then go to the bank the next day . Return flight to Hat Yai leaves about 13.00 or there abouts .

But looking at train time table I think you change trains and wait in KL for about 4 or 6 hours so you still dont get into Singapore until late afternoon as for the Bus I did go to Grasslands web site http://www.grassland.com.sg/ and all I get when checking bus from Hat Yai to Singapore is " No Bus is available " so I think the best route is going to be Tiger . I have done the trip before by bus from Singapore to Hat Yai and it took about 18 hours , This was in a VIP bus even so I could not walk for a week one more reason I think I will take the plane , Have done the Bangkok to Hat Yai train many times its the Butterworth train leaves at 14.45 and gets into Hat Yai about 7 am but so far its never been on time .The Best time is 30 mins late and the worse time 4 hours late but if you have a GPS on your phone you can check were you are and the speed of the train as for were in the Train I have all ways got the whole cabin for 2057 baht or Lower bunk is 1570 baht but you must book direct to Thai Railways and not far a travel agent .

Thanks again

I did similar, round trip. KL_SG_KL.

Saved 2 nites accommodation.

Being a senior citizen, the guy in Sentral gave me about 50% discount, me Kiwi too.

Took some food myself, train tukka NOT so hot.

Fares were around RM66 each way, at the time normal......$NZ30 about.

30 bucks round trip, was well worth it.

How much is a VIP bus fare.
