bkkmick
Does anyone know of a shop in Bangkok that I can buy foodstuff or magazines (if they exist) or books from Myanmar? I want to put together a gift for our nanny that I can give her when my kids are opening their christmas presents. The nanny's about 30 years old. In the past there was an internet cafe down Patpong that had a Burmese girl working there. She got me dried food and an English/Burmese dictionary. Unfortunately that shop is now closed. Any ideas? rak sa_ngop
If you walk up Pan Road from Silom Road, where the Indian Temple sits on the corner (towards the Burmese embassy), you will pass a shop on the left which sells some Burmese products. Not sure about books and other food stuffs, but I used to buy small packets lapek or Burmese pickled tea with nuts. Only about 15 baht a packet. I luv the stuff with beer, but makes you fat so quickly!
